Joe's campaign still has the excitement of a work place meeting, but thanks to coronavirus, police fuckery, and god knows what else 2020 will throw at us, I think he has a chance. This country is as divided as ever, but hopefully current events have swayed more people away from Trump. Guess we'll see.

Biden has brought Julian Castro in to take the lead on police reform.

Who still considers Trump a greater threat to the nation.

It's a testament to how stupid the public is. More than 100,000 Americans are dead from COVID-19, there is mass unrest in the streets, the economy is in recession, and yet Trump's floor is holding at 42%. Like Donny said, there's nothing he can do to alienate 2/5ths of the voting public (and yes that's an amazingly ironic statistic)

Plus most historians agree that rioting helped Nixon win the White House in 1968 because it made suburbanites scared. So civil unrest is bad for Biden, it's just that Trump is bungling the management of it.

And the fact that there is literally no excitement around Biden. He's just the begrudging "best choice" we have. Exact scenario as Hillary, relying on the "Look how terrible he is!" vote.

Is it? Because Hillary Clinton was a pretty goddamn ideal candidate on paper. Former high-profile attorney. The first First Lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to actively get involved in making policy and the policy she wanted was guaranteed health care for children. U.S. Senator, Secretary of State, operator of one of the most highly rated global charities in existence.

And we FUCKED that up. Because the GOP smelled her coming for 20 years and spent as much time as they could during those years pushing everything they could about her. Was some of the criticism justified? Sure, but do you think Republicans really gave a shit about crime bills from the 90s? Then OR now? But we heard how Hillary Clinton scrubbed emails and how she let Benghazi happen, how she's a bitch in the workplace and is clueless about connecting with people, and then if you bought into all that you could go the next level deeper and buy into how she's had countless people killed and operates a secret pedophile ring and is a bloodthirsty war hawk who wanted to invade Libya and Syria and Iran while also somehow simultaneously being in favor of terrorism and mandatory abortions. You think I'm exaggerating these things but these are actual conversations that were being pushed in some pretty focused areas.

Biden isn't a shitty candidate, the man was one of the youngest Senators in history. Legislatively he's accomplished more than almost anyone. When a young black candidate needed someone to balance his ticket he stepped up and served as Vice President for 8 years, overseeing a successful financial recovery as one of his personal projects. But he's not an exciting speaker and he stumbles a lot, so he's sleepy and has dementia.

You know one reason Trump won that I don't see mentioned a lot? Republicans have no problem accepting imperfect allies. They know at the end of the day, even if he does get up to all the most heinous shit he's ever been accused of, the fraud, the racism, the rape, he's gonna get them what they want. Democrats can't seem to get that message. If a dude isn't Bernie Sanders, someone who's pretended purity is based entirely on the fact that he's never seriously attempted of consequence, then prepare to get shit on. Forget all the evil shit Trump will get up to in a second term, forget all the people now part of Biden's campaign - Castro, Obama, Sanders, Harris - he's a flawed candidate so therefore we're all thinking about how he's so bad that even Trump might beat him.

I like to think that if Democrats ran a genuinely bad candidate against a fair Republican candidate, I'd vote against them. I didn't think Mittens was bad and if not for Palin I would've gone for McCain. But it's unfathomable how people look at Joe Biden compared to Donald Trump and think "oh boy, I don't know, this is a close one."

Literally the best the DNC can do. Can't wait til tumors like Tom Perez, Pelosi, Schumer, and Feinstein age out or are voted out. Especially Feinstein.

I actually agree with Hillary was a solid candidate. She just ran a shit campaign and had an amazing hate campaign tossed her way. She wouldn't have been the change we needed, but I think she would have been a mostly solid President and worthy of being the First Woman President.

I don't agree on Biden. He's a good looking guy who lied his way into a Senate seat in a tiny podunk state. He's safely been right in the middle of the party his entire tenure. He ran for President three times, and didn't win a state until 2020. He hasn't "led the charge" on any significant legislation. Meanwhile you sit here and say that Bernie is a joke because he hasn't seriously attempted anything. What major legislation has Biden led the charge on that was truly beneficial?

I don't think Bernie was the ideal candidate, I loved him in 2016 but after that I preferred him more as a mouthpiece for the left than the actual leader of it. But I also disagree with people claiming he's all about purity. His record does not follow that. He will absolutely compromise for a win, he just sets his targets on an ideal first. Compared to the Dems that compromise before they even offer legislation, and then negotiations make it a gutted, tiniest win piece of legislation (looking at you, ACA, the major signature legislation of the Obama/Biden 8 years).

I've yet to see the line, "Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line" to be proven wrong. And the Democrats keep pushing out candidates you cannot fall in love with.

I fell in love with Elizabeth Warren but she believed a story her grandmother told her once she's unelectable.

I would have loved if she had supported Bernie in 2016, and then he dropped out to let her take it in 2020. That would have been my ideal. She was my preference going into 2020 but didn't like how she played the campaign.
