beisbol needs that matchup with how godawful they handled this. It was almost as tragic as how America as a whole handled it, a true testament to us all.

A team having a 10 game losing streak would be the equivalent of a team having a 26 game losing streak in a normal season lol. I don't want anything bad to happen to the Astros, but I do want to see literally every stat of theirs and their players absolutely plummet to Marlin's level.

The Major League Baseball Players Association has agreed to a plan to expand the playoffs to 16 teams for the 2020 season, sources have told ESPN's Marly Rivera.

A playoff expansion still needs the final approval of MLB owners, sources said.

All second-place teams in the six divisions would now qualify for the playoffs, sources said. Then the seventh and eighth teams in each league would be chosen by best record among other teams.

The first round of the playoffs in each league will be four three-game series with all games played at the higher seed's home stadium. The rest of the rounds will be their customary length: The two Division Series in each league will be five-game series, while the AL and NL Championship Series and World Series will be seven-game series.

If a 16-team format is adopted, it would include a televised postseason-seeding show in which top-seeded teams pick their first-round opponents, a source told ESPN's Buster Olney on Thursday.

Players will receive a $50 million pool that will be distributed after each round and could increase if fans are allowed in stadiums for the postseason.

If eight teams qualified for the playoffs in each league from 1995 through 2019, 46 teams at or below .500 would have made it, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, an average of just under two per season. Those teams included 25 from the AL.

So last year, would have been NYY/Tampa, Twins/Indians and Astro's A's for the top 2 in each division, and wildcards would have been Boston and Texas (Texas was sub 500)

National League would have been Braves/Nats, Cards/Brewers, and Dodgers/Diamondbacks with the Mets and Cubs as wildcards.

2018 Also had one sub 500 team (twins, who would have been second in the god awful AL Central).

2017 would probably have been the worse, mainly due to the AL Angels were sub 500 for 2nd in AL west (one game under), Tampa and KC would have been the wildcards at 80-82 as well, and for the NL, the fucking Marlins at 77-85 would have been the second place team in the NL East.

2016 Everyone from the AL would be above 500, in the NL the two wildcards would be below 500. So in short, annoying, but not nearly as bad as the NBA where the East seems to regularly have their 6-8 seeds all be below 500 every year for the past 20 years or so it seems.
