Damn cheapos bringing down the 108 average!
Says the guy who didn't opt for the figure. Fuck your house. lmao I thought you were a TRUE fan. smh.
There's planning and then there's having the actual funding to bring those plans to fruition. I'm sure "making the game they want" is the goal, but budget ultimately determines what game they can make. So, consider stuff like fishing mini-games, cooking battles, and all that a lower priority, but nonetheless still desired from the getgo.
Either way, glad it's getting traction. Like Lucavi, I want to give the big studios the finger, too, since JRPGs have simply felt way too scarce these past couple console generations. And I can't even blame chasing lootbox money for that. They're just harder games to make in general.
For most games that use KS to kick off... sure. They already mentioned the main goal of the KS campaign was to show publishers the interest level so that they could get proper funding that way as well to add on to their sweat equity, rather than completely relying on KS money lol.

Japan just caters to Japan. If the rest of the world buys something, that's just a bonus. Sweaty neets have the most purchasing power in Japan since the crash in the 80's via disposable income, and the market responded to this. Catering to otaku neet culture sells, so you get games like Xenosaga 2 where a decent plot is married to as many tits as you can slap into a game, and modern Fire Emblem, which has generally become a waifu simulator set in a warring kingdom backdrop with a final boss of a god or dragon or dragon god or something.
I'm all for the freedom to create whatever you want, but its painfully obvious that the Japanese AAA market is catering to the group that is spending the most cash in their country, so it is what it is. Thankfully, once again indie companies are picking up the slack.
Honestly, I wonder how much money it would take to purchase an unused IP from a major company. How much would someone have to kickstarter raise to buy Breath of Fire off of Capcom. Based on the trash that was 5 and the absolute wretched puke that was the mobile-trash cash-grab that was 6 (it barely lasted a year), its clear that they want nothing to do with the franchise. Let someone buy it off of them and kickstart a new one.
God, what if they raised enough money to buy the rights to Viki.
Hell, I wonder how much Konami would have let Castlevania go for if the amazing Netflix series hadn't blown up.
On one hand, companies are usually loath to give anything up.
But Breath of Fire is likely the best chance if any. Capcom COMPLETELY ignores it. It has had no presence in MvC, Namco x Capcom or Project x Zone (which is LITERALLY the best place to have it make an appearance, anything at all, but not even a fucking NPC cameo.)
The development studio that did Shining Force in the 90s and Golden Sun in the 00s (and Beyond the Beyond) expressed interest in taking up the IP, but no movement, now they just make Mario Tennis and sports games.
I think the last reference I saw for BoF were some ending cameos in MvC3, and then the shit-tastic mobile bullshit fail-fest. MvC is a franchise that is begging to have some BoF representation. So many good characters could fit right in. Although, as long as Disney is in charge of the Marvel side, I never want to see another MvC. The demands they had for Infinite were absolute bullshit.
Capcom just needs to make a REAL Capcom Fighting All-Stars with characters from all over the company, instead of that piece of shit cashgrab they tried to pull 15 years ago.
Kinda crazy to see how quick this is blowing up. Put 320 down for the lowest statue tier
Fishing mini game goal reached.

I hope it's a new character every $100k from now on until we have 8.

Went for the figures. Fuck it.
Hit $2M but the crazy momentum has died. They've got a whole month to get more though so let's see where it goes from here.
Well there's no way they end it with 102/3/4/5 heroes so they will just end up doing a "bonus for all our fans" to make it 108 even if we don't hit it.
A common pattern for kickstarters is a U shape, big funding rushes at the start and end.
