He's more valuable than WRs for sure. He should get Michael Thomas money but that's never gonna happen 'cause TEs don't get that much.

Still a 5 mil increase over the top TE pay, so getting closer. But I don't think there's been a TE that does as many things as well as Kittle. I can watch that play against the Saints where it took 3 defenders and an intentional face mask to stop him from scoring every day of the week and not get bored.

Gronk but yeah I get your meaning. It's a rarity.

Lord mercy, Gronk is easily the best of all-time. I feel like they could have offered him 20% more than the highest TE (10M > 12M) and got him to sign. Maybe he played some hardball. Doesn't seem like the type though.

Kittle is going to easily surpass Gronk unless Gronk comes back, plays at his best level and doesn't get hurt. Again. That's always been his biggest issue was staying healthy. I'll give a pass on only playing 15 games in 14 and 15 as starters were rested, but besides those 2 years, he only had 2 other years of playing a full 16 games. It's hard to say you're the GOAT of a position if you can't stay on the field.

That take is some serious homerism

I mean truth hurts and all, but would Fitzgerald be considered one of the GOAT WR's if he consistently missed 3+ games a year for half his career? How about Rice, Barry Sanders, etc. I'm not taking anything away from Gronk. He re-defined the TE position, and his style of play cost him almost 2 full seasons of games missed. If Kittle keeps performing for another 6+ years and avoids the same constant injuries Gronk had, he's going to pass Gronk as the best TE.

The truth is Gronk is easily the best TE of all-time. The end. Ridiculous homer-ism on another level going on here.

If Kittle played for 12 more seasons at the current TD pace he's going he would still be short of Gronks TD numbers lol

Also going to have to land at least 3 OF DEM RANGS for most people to consider him better. Jimmy G doesn't have it in him to make that happen. This is a dumb metric for football, but it exists.

So he has more touchdowns. In 3 seasons, Kittle is at 216 receptions, 2,945 yards. Gronk in his first 3 years was 2,663 yards and 187 receptions. Yes his TD #'s are higher, but when has NE even had a running game, plus he was getting passes from Brady. Kittle has done all this with not even 1.5 seasons of Jimmy G as QB and another 1.5 seasons of shitty QB play. Kittle will probably never catch Gronk on TD's cause the Niners are going to almost always pound that ball in on the ground. Kittle is going to absolutely destroy the remainder of Gronk's offensive totals, outside of maybe YAC as Gronk has about an extra 1.5 average advantage on that. That may disappear though depending on how well he plays this year.

TL;DR right now Gronk is still #1. In 10 years unless Gronk stays healthy or Kittle's body falls apart, he's going to get surpassed.

Kelce is 30 and Kittle is 26. Kittle should make more than Kelce.

You pay guys for what you believe they're going to produce for you during the span of the contract, and I would bet on the 26 year old over the 30 year old.

Yep, and I don't disagree with that. I'd rather pay more and have Kittle. SF still increased the TE market by a literal 50% uptick when they could have probably got by with 20%. Chiefs saw that and knew they had to act fast.
