I think the last time i watched "The West Wing", I thought to myself, you could just update the actors/set and not change any of the dialog and people would think it was written for today's audience.

I'll be honest, I'm amazed it's 50/50. Central NC has become incredibly diverse over the past 20 years (constantly rated as one of the best places to live) and shifted hard left, but the rest of the state is, well, ya.

To be honest the majority of people in the US lean liberal but are too concentrated on urban areas and as such don't amount to a majority of electoral votes easily unless they show up in droves.
