I'm shocked by the number of people that are traveling for Thanksgiving they are showing on the news.

We are so screwed.

It's a lot of students traveling home since their campuses closed down for the rest of the semester. There's at least a 50% drop in airline travel this year compared to last year.

i was mostly joking, i am going to my sisters though, only us getting together this year instead of the 15-20 of us that usually do, might swing by my dads for an outdoor masked visit not sure yet

To join my wife's aunt, and her other aunt and uncle who have gotten COVID-19 in S. Dakota (separate incidents, now recovered) now her 90 year old great aunt and uncle have it as well as their son.

When they say hospitals would 'collapse', are they just referring to the fact people will just have to fend for themselves because the hospitals are at capacity with critical patients, or that they'll be out supplies for treatment, or expecting people being stupid and trying to riot/break in?

For COVID-19, hospitals are largely a place for convalescence.

A hospital would have failed if conditions inside get so bad that it is no longer better to convalesce inside than at home.

Remember when Cyberpunk dev's had to work an extra shift a week, and people lost their fucking minds because it was cruel and unfair to force them to work an extra shift? Well instead of one shift a week, its a minimum of one extra shift a week, all other shifts extended, and the end goal isnt to finish a video game, its trying to keep fellow human beings alive.
