I mean the CDC has guidelines on how to do it safely or did they only do that because of pressure?

You're right, the CDC would never buckle under pressure

So then we don't have to listen to anything they've put out then as far as recommendations and guidelines?
No, just that safety guidelines =/= activity is safe. They have safety guidelines for everything because unfortunately we aren't making reopening decisions based entirely on science.
Gyms and other indoor activities are going to be the highest risk activities for the foreseeable future.
So implementing the 6 feet distancing, wearing a mask and improving HVAC systems and other precautions aren't things based on science?
No gyms wouldn't be open if we were basing it off risk factor. Not sure what you're confused about here.
If you can do it (and everybody does do it) with a mask on its never going to be the "highest risk" category.
Big ifs but yeah
I'm not confused. Either the guidelines and precautions put out are worthwhile and based on science, even including risk factor or basically everything we've been hearing is useless.
Don't say its science that gyms can't be opened because that's been proven incorrect and gyms can be opened safely with precautions.
I've gone to the gym. They have an active mask wearing and social distancing policy, plenty of hand washing stations, and you're expected to disinfect weights and machines after you use them.

I wipe everything down before I use it...but there are still ignorant stupid selfish fucks who dont even wipe shit down after using it.
literally everything can safely opened assuming protocols are put in place and people adhere to those those protocols
dana white has been selling covid-free male on male dry humping action on pay per view since may 9th till now perfectly fine. if that shit can happen, anything can happen. its all about the million steps before hand
Every public space that gets reopened leads to increased cases. Some spaces lead to more cases than others. We can only handle so many cases until we have to shut things down again. So, given that we have limited bandwidth on public spaces and services right now, is grown-ass adults being able to get haircuts and cocktails and gains really what we should be prioritizing as a society?
This is a national crisis that requires a wartime response, and we have people rationalizing going to the gym. America really is a nation of entitled sociopaths.
The entire world figured out how to reopen without issues, but apparently America's strain of the virus is immune to any and all countermeasures.
If yall are waiting for a perfect vaccine before doing -anything- other than grocery shopping, then thats on you. The rest of us are doing things with just less risk

The rest of the world curtailed the spread of the virus to levels manageable enough to reopen.
Incidentally, a lot of those places are now seeing large resurgences of the virus. Know what they're doing? CLOSING DOWN AGAIN. Like they should be.
We originally set those guidelines as well, but then reopened anyway when it became obvious people weren't going to listen and those goals would never be reached.
If we were going off of the guidance we originally set for places to reopen in basically every single state, none of these places would be open right now.
