Biden was a big supporter of "tough on crime" in the 90s. He was a big opponent of bussing in DE before that. He is our nominee because old black people voted for him.

Kamala was an DA/AG in CA and did some pretty crazy stuff as well. She is was Biden's VP pick because she is a woman of color that Biden would get along with and apparently likes.

Kamala did bad things as an AG. Biden did bad things as a Senator. Sometimes those were for cynical political reasons (like bussing) and sometimes due to a genuine misunderstanding of what was good (like policing policy.) The situations where they do things for naked political reasons are obviously more concerning to me than their failure to be 3 decades ahead of their time in policy.

Attacks against Biden and Kamala for their histories would hit a lot harder with me if:
1) they weren't alleged slights against the PoCs that nominated them
2) Trump had a toe to stand on
3) they provided evidence of malintent or apathy towards the suffering of constituents

Instead these vague "but she is a cop tho, comments?" questions are just wastes of time.

Except it's factually true. I don't deny a lot of DAs are fucking terrible because they view conviction rate as a measure of success.

AGs are a different animal because they largely don't deal with crime, but more state civil defense/public interest litigation.
