    Having been playing XIII-3, I could use for another FF to use that style of combat. It's realtime combat with reaction checks, but blends in ATB style elements in the process. None of the zip-zap-bop stuff like XV had with warp strike abuse and poor enemy hitboxes that kept sliding you aside.

    I like how they're calling it "story focused mode" in XVI instead of just laying it flat and saying "Yes it has an easy-difficulty mode".

    Make it KH2FM style combat where it's not floaty at all, and I can die a happy man.

    Action style just kills the rpg aspect... it becomes a single character game...
    But with turn based being inherently slow ... what do you do instead?
    I want FF... not zelda

    Considering Zelda’s combat is rudimentary as hell and you have the battle director in charge of DMC5 handling this, don’t worry.

    Unless they implement a poorly thought out weapon durability system I’m sure this games combat is going to be fine.

    I love Soken, but let’s be real, Square works with sooo many fucking good composers I don’t think that’s going to be a problem.

    I think Xenoblade is a good compromise of actiony combat but still making you feel like you’re playing with a party. I don’t think that’s going to be this game, but I think that’d be my preference for action oriented party based RPGs.

    Combat wise I liked Til the End of Time and Last Hope a lot, storyline wise I would agree that they paled compared to 2 lol

    I hated Til the End of Time gameplay. Felt really unbalanced and unfair.

    That was the one where you could MP kill enemies, right? I thought it was an interesting concept but didn't really work out well. That said, the actual mechanics and skills usage/execution was great.

    edit, wait, MP kills was Last Hope, I think

    The whole point of the ending portions of SO3 is that it wasn't meaningless. That's kind of one of the central themes.

    They become sentient. They're their own people. They're fighting for their future because there's no difference between SO and 4D at this point.

    Tbh I just wish they did the SO series justice instead of releasing the last game like they did. Feels bad knowing that the series may never see the light of day again especially after the last one.

    No, I understand that. I don't think they did a good job portraying it and making it meaningful. I don't think I'm alone in thinking this given the backlash.

    I would argue SO5 had better combat than SO3
