I liked the move to action rpg, but I didn't enjoy the execution in ff14. I liked the action in ff7r tho

Not even a hot take at this point. He's an excellent antagonist. I'd play a game about him running shit from the shadows because his story and motivations are that interesting.
I'll be all over this game because I finally don't have to worry about the game's characters being dedicated to Gakt's modeling career. Shit reminds me of a Matsuno plot as well, with nobility being slaughtered in front of small children. Considering that Matsuno's been working with Yoshi-P in FFXIV off and on, if it turns out he's also helping out with this game, I'm fucking all-in.
There's my FFT and Tactics Ogre political intrigue right there.
eurogamer cites "an analyst" as saying its 6mos exclusive before pc, 12 before xbox fwiw (grain of salt, etc)
RPG Site speculating that lead designer is Kazuya Takahashi, who has a resume including FF14, FF9, FF11, and the 3D remake of FF3.
Praying that's right Qalbert. I can hold off for 6 months.
I cannot.
Ardyn was an amazing antagonist if you played the game, the patched game, the Ardyn DLC, and read the novelization of the unreleased DLC available only in Japan.

Correct.
I wish the real FFXV existed for us to play.
That's all good and well, but you could always just have all of that in the main game, like XIV, so that people don't have to go all over the fucking planet to make a character that you created actually cool.
Its the Blizzard problem. They split up so much lore between the game and books that you have no idea what's going on in-game and characters constantly seem to act out of character in the game that people are actually playing.
By the time I finish a game, I should know everything I need to know about character motivations and expectations.
XIV 5.0 had a little bonus fluff about Emet-Selch's past, but even if you didn't read it, you still came out of 5.3 knowing everything you needed to for him to exist as a complex, believable character who you can empathize with, regardless of whether you oppose him or not.
The difficulty and absurdity in collecting the entire FFXV narrative was, in fact, the joke.

Yoshi as the director and no Nomura has me cautiously optimistic for a mid to late 2022 release. I will admit I miss my turn based RPG's,. but at least I'll always have P5R for that itch.
Other than DQ11, Persona, and Pokemon, what were the last AAA turn-based console JRPGs? The X360 Mistwalker stuff from 12-15 years ago?
Everything else I can think of from the last 10 years was a 3DS, mobile, or indie title.
Those are pretty much it, and DQ11 on Switch and P5 have probably been two of my favorite RPG's in the last few years. Not sure if Nier: Automata counts as an RPG or if it's more of an action game with RPG Elements. I know a sequel to Bravely Default is coming to switch, but I'd kill for an HD Update combo of Bravely Default and Bravely Second to come onto the switch as well.
