Not sure if anyone else here plays lance but is it just me or is the lance a lot more clunky in this game? Feels like there's quite a bit of a delay in raising the shield to block right after you do an attack an attack this time around compared to World.

Wonder if LBG sticky builds is gonna get nerfed. It does a stupid amount of damage for not a lot of effort. I’ve ended the hunt before monster even left the first area(3-5 minutes). Also can put Cluster Bomb ammo with LBG when you unlock rampage tickets.

I need to try a sticky build soon. Ran out of piercing ammo.

I take it the rules are like World where affinity does nothing so stack Attack/Damage buffs?

Yes but need a very good talisman with at least level 2 spare short(extra slots also a plus). You’ll need deco and armor sets for Recoil down, artillery, slugger, Reload speed, And Ammo up.

Honestly any charm with 2 slots (regardless of skills) is good enough for most builds.

If it has the right skills for your build it will let you squeeze out extra points of attack, but that doesn't make or break a build. My Magnamalo LBG build right now is using a 2 slot with random skills and I've got....

    Spare Shot 3
    Slugger 3
    Artillery 3
    Ammo Up 3
    Recoil Down 3
    Attack Boost 2
Reload Speed 1 (all the Magna LBG needs)
    Flinch Free 1

and other random worthless skills since a lot of builds are pretty inefficient right now. The 2 more points of Attack Boost would be nice, but I can live.

On that note how do you upgrade charms?

    It's just the random crafting.

The general recommendation I've seen is to do Moonbow until you get a 1 WEX level 2 slot talisman, then start playing the Wisp of Mystery lottery.

You need to beat the (current) final boss of Hub to unlock Wisp of Mystery, and generally speaking you'll get enough materials for 2 full Wisp of Mystery melds each time you run it.

I can really tell I didn't run much multiplayer in world I've forgotten how bad randos are. It's 2021 and people still carting to Rathalos.

I've had people cart on Barioth.

Also is there a graphics setting to lessen/remove damage effects from other party members? Annoying trying to see a mob through a bunch of flashy stuff from other weapons.

I've noticed something feels off, but I chalked it up either to the 30fps of the Switch or maybe me just getting older and my reflexes slowing down.

On the bright side lance is more mobile than ever, it doesn't take but a moment to get into position most of the time.

Yeah the new wirebug attack is pure sex... except when the monster moves right at the last minute and you miss stabbing it.

It takes a lot of skills to get up to par but Axe Hopper CB with the Rajang CB is wildly entertaining, even more SAED spam then we had in World (though SAED is substantially weaker now)

So for sticky LBG is rapid fire necessary? I know there was a meta debate back in world about rapid fire actually being less overall damage than just spamming Sticky 3s

    Definitely not.

The best sticky LBG in world was Aquashot where everyone used non RF Sticky 3, and the best right now in Rise is the Magnamalo which is the same story.

Apparently something is broken with the generation table for charms, and at least some people are stuck getting the same ones over and over:

Capcom acknowledged it like a week ago I think.

Probably a underlying indication that charm tables are back, which is an unfortunate reversion to old mechanics.

It's been awhile, but as far as I can remember from 2 and before the only inherent randomness was monster drops. Since then we had the charms and charm tables, which then went away in World (though then we had to deal with the random jewels).

Why it's not just a simple rng and instead the underlying charm tables idk, just whacky japanese devs I guess.
