I have no qualms w the race but the clip looks like shit, hope they doing something in post about the color/contrast/saturation
Light diffuses in water and she's at the bottom of the ocean... I knew people were bad at basic science but lordy.
Shes a mermaid bro
It's not dark and you're comparing two largely different levels of inability to see. TLM gripes are I want the bottom of the ocean to be brighter and more vibrant with saturation that we see on land or in the original cartoon!
The song she's singing is also a dark/dreary song so the environment fits the song for the less than 2 minute trailer they released
I demand my fictional characters that don't exist resemble things that exist!
Fuck sake, it's fine. Disney be pandering but Ariel looks great. The question is whether the movie is good or not.
Remember when people lost their minds when Elizabeth Banks was cast to play Rita Repulsa in the new power rangers movie because she wasn't a witch from Space Asia/Japan?
Felt like much simpler times.
I think Disney trying to apply extra earth-like realism to these live action movies is exactly part of the problem, youre replicating a fuckin vivid cartoon and seem to be going out of the way to make it as drab as possible.
lion king looked like shit too just sayin
Aladdin and Jungle Book were "ok" but basically all of the live action remakes they've been doing are awful. Just soulless monstrosities
gotta love the "real little mermaid" and seemingly unironic use of "bet" in a racist facebook post.
Companies out to make money do things that they think will make them money
Spicyryan: RAH RAH CAPITALISM
Producing lower quality goods to protect a monopoly on an IP. That's just, like, the profit motive, dude. What are you, some sort of Alex Jones? No? That makes no sense? But, I want to try hard, let me use it anyway.
I thought the Lion King live action was pretty serviceable to be honest. Obviously it's never going to best the original, but was still decent in it's own right. The worst part about it was a horrendous Beyonce who delivered every line like she was caught on the way out to lunch and forced to record it right than and there. She's just a flat-out terrible actress.
I thought live action Aladdin was pretty decent as well.
Aladdin was actually pretty good and fleshed out (other than changing to the Jasmine as Sultana thing). Will Smith was decent as Genie.
Mulan and Belle were terrible and ruined the stories. Lion King was just a CGI remake of the cartoon that didn't make any sense to do.
