i like Rudy but at his best he's taking you to first or second round exit when paired with an offensive star (prime Hayward, Mitchell). supermax is weird for those all-star but not superstar dudes, understand teams worried about losing the guys that will get them to the postseason every year but the money doesn't make sense for anyone but a handful of players.

They didn't have to give Gobert the full supermax that was he eligible for, so they have that going for them at least.

The fact that there's a max will always make that the case. Guys like Lebron or Giannis would get 60M+ a year on the open market if there was no cap.

Hawks not able to reach an extension with John Collins so he'll be a RFA this offseason. Would've liked to get him signed but don't think it makes sense to pay him the max. Another team might give it to him this offseason

An exaggeration but yeah mainly for the Heat, even if they could get OKC to remove the protection, they probably still don't have enough to make the trade
