they desperately needed shooting but man what a fuckin clusterfuck Philly's process turned into, big splashy acquisitions in Richardson and Horford + picks getting tossed for dudes that were cheapish free agents a year ago.
It also just clearly fits the Sixers needs. They have been sorely lacking in shooters to help space out the floor, and have now added Danny Green and Seth Curry while getting rid of Horford's contract. That's a massive win for them.
i mean props to Morey, he inherited one of the worst-spaced teams in the history of basketball, but damn they really wound up turning Jimmy Butler into Seth Curry. just oof. spiritual oof. structural oof. generational oof.
From comments he made it was clear Jimmy was never gonna stay in Philly.
They were able to get a sign and trade out of it instead of nothing.
negro please the only reason he didn't want to stay is because Brett Brown is a fuckin incompetent and the organization was a mess top to bottom. fuckin jerkoffs would only offer him the max extension if he promised not to take meetings with other teams.
you cannot look at the squad and talent Philly assembled with their two best players on rookie contracts, one bounce away from maybe beating the champion Raptors, and think they didn't mismanage things on a cosmic level
like yes we agree getting rid of Horford is a dub for them but they're still the idiots that signed him to $110 million a year ago
Oh they absolutely fucked it all beyond belief. Jimmy leaving, signing Tobias Harris to a max, and signing Horford are missteps of immeasurably epic proportions.
I'm just saying, they could have had Jimmy just leave and get absolutely nothing so that they at least got a sign and trade out of the situation was like... idk the Chargers losing a one score game as opposed to getting blown out. A small moral victory maybe, but still defeat nonetheless.
The silver lining to Jimmy leaving Philly is I really enjoy watching him on the Heat and the chemistry and camaraderie that team has. Unless you hate Miami for being Miami, it's hard not to like that team
how the fuck did anime get into this thread
i'll be sad to see shamet go because i had high hopes for him. but sounds like kennard's just gonna be better all around the board for the team. he makes lou williams expendable, and he's one of the team's best assets anyway. the team really just needs to move beverley/harrell and pick up a legit lead guard/backup big and just about every major issue will have been addressed.
I mean, that reaction gif aside
