Proposal - Nursing homes > medical workers > people aged 65+
Proposal - Nursing homes > medical workers > people aged 65+
up here it's medical workers>nursing homes>high risk essential workers
anything after that is being discussed now
Idk
Seems like medical workers should get higher priority:
Those who put themselves at risk, and help the high risk
Then high risk
The biggest issue right now in the healthcare facilities is having to quarantine workers who test positive or spread it to other workers so I think it would make sense to give it to medical workers first. Where I work they are working out strategies for utilizing empty warehouse/parking lots nearby to use for people to line up in cars for the vaccine. The CDC also requires the vaccine recipient to wait around (in your car or wherever) for 15 minutes for staff to see if the patient experiences any adverse side-effects (probably similar to donating blood or plasma to ensure you're not woozy etc).
I work on machines in hospitals and nursing homes and schools. I'll probably not be in line for a while.
They should give it to the biggest party animals first
Im amazed at not putting children, teachers, and school staff high up I would think returning the school system to business as usual would be a top priority.
if everyone in the medical field got covid tomorrow, the world would quite literally stop functioning. also the number of children in america is astronomically high and you only have so many vaccines to go around

Incase you're wondering why they're prioritizing older, more vulnerable, vs children.
I am actually surprised myself we weren't higher on the list, same as Mrbean. Your post is a valid reason why in regards to at-risk (and I am totally fine with it, honestly), but the gov't cares more about getting everyone back to work asap, and childcare is a huge part of holding that part back. So I am just surprised they didn't push for that, too.
In any case, once they do put educators on the list, I will gladly take it.
Friend with asthma caught the rona at the beginning of summer, recovered. Is now out the rest of the year with fucking blood clots.
