Inevitably, my take away is that the world learned absolutely fuck all from have 90% of its population wiped out, if not more. Sure, we could argue that Eren chose the wrong way to teach people a lesson, or that responses of certain characters were very... questionable, plot armor of Gabby aside, but I'd like to have a little more faith that humanity wouldn't fuck itself over. At least not as quickly.

I'm just inclined to say he fucked himself the moment Paradis learned they're not alone. The mystery of the titans and their origins was underwhelming. Some fun could've been had if the setting was a future Earth and not just something suspiciously Earth adjacent. And I can't help but wonder if that was a result of early criticism for what came off as Nazi glorification in the first portion even though that got dialed up to 11 with all the segregation, armbands, and shit. Basically, we had a genre shift from action horror to some kinda action philosophical wank where you can't even make a War Games correlation because the game is lost even if you don't play.

He shouldn't feel like he had to apologize. There was nothing wrong with the ending. I thought the epilogue chapter we got after the end was perfect.

FYI, after the final chapters came out he got death threats.

Anyways the ending was bad. Not because it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but because it was a half-assed attempt to do both.

So my expectation is that it will be like Evangelion Death and Rebirth - a recap with 20 minutes of new footage. With Part 2 sometime mid 2024 and the final final final part in 2026.

Then to slap us in the face, an epilogue/coda in 2027 to keep milking it.

Part 1 is out, which seems to contain 3 episodes? I've got it lined up to watch but I'm just heading out to do grocery and then my weekly cook first.
I saw a tweet somewhere that Part 2 will come out during Fall 2023, which will be half.

Will be funny if they split the last part into 2 parts just because. lol

Its a strait up 1hour OVA style episode and actually pretty good too. 2nd half in the fall covering the ending.

I feel like even though Aot Season 2 wasn't amazing, it was pivotal in the overall story. People were just upset because it was such a different kind of arc. Then season 3 came out and knocked it out of the park. Despite some spotty CG at times I feel like the series as an overall is A tier for sure.
