Leaning toward a split season, personally, with the alternative being shit is stupidly rushed and disappointing.

I finally took a peak at the manga last night and I really think they are going to do a split season. At the current pace, the anime should hit around ch.120 by episode 16. At that point they will take a break, allow the manga to finish, and then release the second part later this year with probably another 13 episodes.

The primary problem with Gabi as a character is she's pretty much a Mary Sue that gets plot armored through the events to gank a fan favorite. Such is an issue for a lot of these post-timeskip new characters because it's hard to feel like they've earned their place in the plot.

their place in the plot is to illustrate that every single one of them is a victim of their circumstances and that they keep making choices that only encouraged the next generation to keep going down the same destructive path. From the moment Ymir became the first Titan, they have all been used, taken advantage of, and not known peace.
