Pretty much. I know some are trying to suggest she should be viewed as a tragic character because "both sides" and "sins of the fathers" sort of takes, but she's literally just a girl that does things with weapons now and then being right place/right time. She doesn't have ODM training like the other Paradis characters. She's not a thinker like Erwin, Armin, or Hange. And while she may have similarities to Eren when it comes to rage/determination, he's also had a fuckton of setbacks and what victories he did achieve were frequently slim or came at great cost. Her getting beat up some now is pretty much the peak of her future manga struggles.

Sasha dying would've been far more impactful if it came at the hands of Reiner, Zeke, or even Piecke. They're the "enemies" the viewer would've known at the time, and ideally would've come in a more combat-oriented moment. Tyrion sniping his old man on the shitter this is not.

FF8's plot is entrenched in this cosmic predestination and time travel nonsense. Fate conspired to bring the FF8 cast together.
It was inevitable that these dumb orphans and love interest would gather in this one place at this one exact time to kill this one particular time witch.
It was out of their control. Destiny. Stupid, mediocre destiny.

AoT is holding its cast accountable. They've made their beds. There are no accidents. Disaster isn't random.
