There's actually a degree of parallels between LoM and FFXI, I think a good number of XI's staff were pulled from the people who worked on LoM (though most were from Chrono Cross).

Legend of Mana and Chrono Cross are two of the best game soundtracks Squaresoft ever produced.

i wasn't really a big fan of this game when it first released, but i've warmed up to it a lot over the years. and yeah, fully agreed on the soundtrack, one of the best in an era jam-packed with bangers. there was an arrangement album for LoM that came out probably 5-6 years ago that was really well done.
