Oh man, how will ol' China wriggle their way out of this one?
just normal things
So a new thing making the rounds on bookface is how the vaccine lotteries are weird.
A fraction of a chance at a couple thousand dollars is apparently all it takes to turn someone who was against the vaccine to being willing to take the vaccine. Basically a five dollar scratchie. Thats more weird to me.
If it works I'll take it haha
My state is doing it correctly. People who got it previously are eligible too
What's their overall population numbers for doses? That map is about as useful as the whole "repubs have the most red spots on the American map, so why didn't our guy win?" map
Well like that, the green areas are the most populace while the blue are the least. It follows election maps almost 1:1.
If you're looking for a detailed breakdown by county - https://mn.gov/covid19/vaccine/data/index.jsp
Yeah the map makes it look like barely anyone in Minnesota has gotten the vaccine. That being said, their overall numbers are pretty fucking garbage too lol
Aren't they like, no masks anymore fully open?
It about mirrors the same trends in California's vaccination map.
Bottom 5 counties for 1 dose are:
+Lassen (20.8% NE corner of the state)
+Tehama (30.6% South of Redding)
+Kings (31.8% Southern central valley)
+Modoc (32.8% NE corner)
+Yuba (34.1% North of Sacramento)
Notably, % fully vaccinated is only a few percentage points off so those getting one dose are usually getting fully vaccinated. Also those counties are very rural and conservative. Number of doses administered is about 176k.
Top 5 counties for 1 dose:
Marin (75.9% Bay Area)
SF (73.3% Bay Area)
Alpine (71.4% Eastern Cascades south of Tahoe)
Santa Clara (71.1% Bay Area)
San Diego (71.1%)
Alpine is the outlier in this one since the area is so rural but the partial vaccination rate is so high. But that's only 1.5k doses. The other 4 counties have doled out 7.7 million doses.
And LA county has delivered 10.2 million doses (56.7% population with at least 1 dose.) The problem with LA county is lower vaccination rates among Latinos and Blacks. Part fear, part economic impact of missing work days (there's a state law that provides up to 80 hours PTO to get vaccinated and deal with the side effects)
The upside is that low populations density counties (who need the vaccine less) are the ones with a low vaccination rate. These half-assed measures are not going to exterminate COVID, but the distribution is better than the opposite.
Extremely low population density areas of the US having a low vaccination rate is bad, but it's not about to spark an outbreak either. There never were outbreaks there to begin with for the most part.
Hey it could be worse! You guys could live in the south. Here in TN only 34% of the population is vaccinated. Some states are even worse.
Yeouch. Tymon I'm canceling my flights to TN
Its not that bad there, another 7% have their first dose in TN!
wow overpaid, i would stop being racist for 1 million
