Captain America 4: The New World Order (February 14, 2025)

Mentioned in another thread, it's not bad, just dull.

The entire plot is centered around a big conspiracy/reveal that they've been showing front and center in all the trailers and promotional material so there's no real suspense.

There were only like 5 other people at the viewing I saw yesterday so I could dick around on my phone in the middle of it, which says a good amount both about how little people care and also that I was bored enough to just play on my phone instead of watch it

Was a fun movie.

Better than Quantumania and Love and Thunder and thats my new metric for "bad" MCU movies.

Saw it yesterday. I had fun haha. Obviously not in my top ten, but certainly not in my bottom ten either. Ties up some old loose ends, nothing overtly bad. Just a good, turn off your brain and enjoy the action type of movie.

Just got back.

Is it an Oscar winner? No. Was it a D- or whatever? No. It's a completely middle-of-the-pack movie which is fine in a vacuum if maybe a little disappointing for what should be a tentpole hero in Captain America.

I also really liked the Bucky cameo. Those two do work well together on screen.

Just got back. It's good! Is it great? Eh! But everyone is fully in this movie. It's a shame that some stuff couldn't be saved as a surprise.

Only major notes are that I would have wanted Giancarlo Esposito to have more screen time. Hopefully we'll get a proper Serpent Society soon. The other thing is there's a scene near the end with EGREGIOUS green screen, clearly one of the reshoots and so bad that there's literally like a two-dimensional shadow standing behind Sam that's supposed to be a person.

But overall? A very easy 7.

I'm gonna say solidly done.
Not as fantastic as GotG 3 or Deadpool & Wolverine, but better than all the phase 4 films that aren't Spider Man.

I'm gonna make a bold prediction.
