FF5/FF6 sprites looked a bit of a compromise between original and the tragedy that was those remakes, so that's a bit encouraging.

FF3 looks like it leans on the original NES version - it showed the scene w/ the onion kids getting attacked by the 4 tortoises at the start of the game. None of that refia/arc/ingus shit. Nice!

Final Fantasy I through Final Fantasy VI will release individually for mobile and Steam, though no release window was announced.

Notably, the Pixel Remaster Series version of Final Fantasy III will be the first 2D version of the game available in English. Additionally, the Pixel Remaster Series versions of Final Fantasy I and Final Fantasy II will be the first available on a PC platform, and the Pixel Remaster Series version of Final Fantasy IV will be the first time a 2D version of that title will be available on mobile or Steam.

1/2/4 are all a downgrade from the PSP versions. Why they didn't bother just hiring the art staff for those and using it to fill out the rest of the 1-6 line-up is beyond me.

It just looks like they took the original sprites/tiles on 4 and decided to add a little extra colour on some pixels and that was it. Then again it is poorly renamed "Pixel Remaster" and not "Awesome Edition that's not running with mobile input in mind". At any rate, this pack isn't for me since I've already played these all to death and own multiple releases of each throughout the years (minus 3 which only had the one NA release).

I downloaded the trailer and tried to get a few shots that catch all the sprites they showed

Um, I thought that collection of images/videos it showed was just to show off the current games so we know what to look forward to the new ones coming up, I didn't for one second thought that would be it what we're getting lol, as the trailer so far is labelled teaser so this was why I thought this

When they said Pixel Remaster, I really thought it would be like Kaisha posted but even better/enhanced on top of that (so take current "best" version and spice that up even more). I might be expecting too much I guess lol

Personally I would not be interested otherwise if it's not something looking really modern or more pleasing to the eye.

They said "coming soon" which implies close to release. If they had actually put effort into it and were doing any kind of improvements they would have highlighted it.

It aint encouraging at all. If you can't improve on the SNES VI sprites, bring them back. I don't want this mobile trash-looking shit sprites. That Locke sprite looked like lukewarm asshole served on a tin plate.

So much for hoping for a proper 2.5D remake.
