that being said i am in favor of all said changes
First to third used to happen a lot when there was only two umpires in the old day. I used to have a book of all the greatest cheaters of baseball growing up and there was a player notorious for going first to third, which led to having an umpire at each base.

Games decided by a bunt off would be dope. Ichiro woud've feasted with that rule.

The demands for changes to service time manipulation is something that is going to benefit every player. Not just superstars, but everyone down to your utility and back up players, so of course Manfred is going to play up the won't someone think of the small market teams thinking.

That said, it's just outright stupid that players are going into their thirty's before getting their first crack at free agency and a big payday. Even with the NFL's franchise tag, players are still in their twenties when they get a chance to find out their worth in the open market, so it's something that absolutely has to change.

I'm not sure what you mean by minors need to be in the top end. I meant top end in the context of who's being paid the most.
Ncaa has no relevant comparison to milb as that is scholastic and unpaid where milb is professional and paid.
The primary problem is how little minor league players are paid. Most players get drafted and have to spend 3-4 years on average developing through the minor league to be competitive enough to play in the big leagues. Of those, we end up with lindors and tatis with huge contracts, and the rest with relatively small ones now.
Nolan Ryan was the first player to receive a multi year contract worth over the 1mm/yr mark, and ever since, it's only exponentially gone up.
The question is, how do you approach the pay for the minor league structure, when there's no real guarantee they will pan out to be big league caliber?

NCAA pay is its own rant for later, but to say it's scholastic in pay is laughable as most of them are there for a shot at the pro's in their sport, nothing else.

As for pay for minors, can start at something that's livable so they can focus on training and their game, and not will it be better to sleep in my beater car and afford the dollar menu at McDonald's, or join 8 others in a one bedroom apartment and split a package of top ramen is a good start.

Mets hired Buck Showalter as their new manager

If history repeats itself I'd assume that means the Mets are winning the World Series in the next 4 or 5 years the season after they fire him

MLB Offseason Thread: Lockdown is over, now prepare for a lockout

So the guy who snubbed Jeter from the HOF, since there was only one vote that prevented it from being unanimous, had no idea he was even on the ballot? Dude straight up needs his voting privileges stripped.

This is honestly even worse than that one lone dissenting vote against DeGrom for the Cy Young a few years back because of “run support.”

He setup an Instagram for it and Mike Trout follows him, we're truly entering the dankest timeline.

^tracks all hof votes as they come in

as i post this voting is half done, ortiz is in good shape to be a first ballot hall of famer, the only other two currently above the line are clemens and bonds, but they are barely above and speculation is they won’t make it

(reasoning seems to be that of the ballots counted they haven’t gained any new votes from previous years, so if the trend holds they’re done. don’t feel like checking individual ballots)
