Also the fact that Taysom Hill keeps getting paid this kind of money to just be a gadget player a handful of times a game is fucking wild. He must have some dirt on Payton or some of the higher ups to keep getting this kind of cash

it's honestly an amazing concept for teams. it could protect their cap from injured dudes

But aren't salary caps based on what the maximum value of said contract is? Like if a guy has a 1 mil base pay and 9 mil of incentives it's gonna count as 10 mil against the cap regardless of many of those targets he hits.

Edit : just looked it up and incentives considered "likely to be earned" (based off previous season performance) are counted against that years cap, "not likely to be earned" go against the next years cap. Just another version of kicking the can down the road.
