Okay well I gave you guys an opportunity to make this thread but ya didn't so my non-committal ass is doing it instead. The members of the committee to investigate the January 6th Capitol attack have stated they will be starting public hearings to in Jan 2022 throughout the year and wrapping up before mid-terms. This way we don't have to split it up between the congress thread/presidential threads. It's hard to tell what exactly the committee may reveal but there is real potential to absolutely rock US politics to its core and lead to the expulsion or arrest of sitting congress members.

Things I hope the Committee will be able to reveal:
Who planted the pipe bombs at the DNC/RNC the day before? Who gave the rumored "recon" tours to a group of people prior to the insurrection on Jan 6th? What was Donald actually doing while people were being beaten and killed at the Capitol? Who locked Pence and staff out of his office during the attack? Why did Lauren Boebert tweet an update of Nancy Pelosi being removed? Is Enrique Tarrio (Proud Boys) an informant and did he purposely get banned from DC the day before so he wouldn't get caught up in the attack? Will they criminally refer Trump and others to the DOJ?

The select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol is revving up for a more public phase of its probe, according to the Washington Post. The effort will include a series of public hearings at the outset of 2022 as the panel assembles a preliminary report of its findings for summer and a finalized version to be released before next year's midterms. The panel is also exploring the possibility of recommending the Justice Department bring charges against Donald Trump or anyone else who had a hand in trying to overturn the rightful results of the 2020 election. At the same time, they are weighing potential legislative fixes that could help safeguard future elections.

Expect surprises. Earlier this month, Cheney managed to captivate the D.C. press corps with a series of sensational day-of-riot texts between Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows and certain unnamed GOP lawmakers, along with high-profile Fox News hosts. The committee is sure to have more previously unreleased information at the ready as it connects the dots between those who plotted to disrupt the peaceful transfer of power and the deadly insurrection that unfolded on Jan. 6.

Bernie Thompson and Liz Cheney state the Committee heard testimony that Donald was sitting watching the coup on TV. Unclear if he was eating McDonalds with Diet Coke, but apparently Ivanka asked him at least twice to call it off. Mr Kerik, a convicted felon who received a presidential pardon from Mr Trump in February 2018, received a subpoena from the select committee demanding that he produce documents and give evidence concerning his involvement in “efforts to promote false claims of election fraud or overturn the results of the 2020 election” and promotion of “baseless litigation and ‘Stop the Steal’ efforts” on 5 November.

No this is an objectively unprecedented danger, embassies have been attacked before but an insurrection has never been caused by a sitting president. And it is ongoing as Donald, Flynn, Bannon, et. al are still just openly getting sycophants positioned in government to disobey any future election results they don't like.

Regarding the Newsweek story about the FBI/DOJ special ops, retired FBI Director Frank Figluzzi on the Muller She Wrote podcast has raised doubts about the accuracy/truth of that story.

Garland and the DOJ are going to make some sort of press statement tomorrow due to the upcoming anniversary. Probably something predictably vague and unsatisfying.
