But will there be ballistics?
Not sure, but they're remaking the story, too.

Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the 2005 game Resident Evil 4. When it first came out, Resident Evil 4 revolutionized the Resident Evil franchise with its new game-style that combined action, shooting, and resource management elements, subsequently setting the standard for future Resident Evil titles.
This time, the game is being developed to achieve state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserving the essence of the original game. We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it. This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard.
The story thus far
Six years have passed since the biological disaster in Racoon City.
Leon S. Kennedy, one of the survivors of the incident, has been recruited as an agent reporting directly to the president.
With the experience of multiple missions on his back, Leon is sent to rescue the kidnapped daughter of the president of the United States.
He tracks her to a secluded European village, where there is something terribly wrong with the villagers.
And the curtain rises on this story of grueling survival horror and rescue.
Yeah, they tried to do that with Resident Evil 3 Remake, turned out horrible. Let's hope they don't trash this one.
People looked back on the original 3 with mad nostalgia goggles.
They did needlessly make an already short game shorter, but 3 was more known for Jill's outfit and the design of Nemesis than the actual game.
Surprised this is happening considering the RE3 remake didn’t do so well, and that RE4 is basically Skyrim at this point with how many times they have re-released it. RE4 was the departure from less survival horror into more action shooter so interested to see if they continue that here or go in a different direction.
If you played Village, you could definitely see it coming. There were so many things in that game that could be reused (which Capcom likes to do lately) and would fit in perfectly with RE4
I think I even commented on that in the Village thread.
Let’s hope by “modernize” they don’t mean “have a big bad invincible monster guy chase you endlessly throughout the entire game,” because I’m really over that by now. Hey. Maybe by mindernizing the story, they mean that the las plagus will be spread by giving people vaccines!
Ehh, none of the games had you chased by the monster for the entire game, just smaller or bigger sections.
Also coming to ps4 and xbox one. It was initially confirmed only for series s/x ps5 and pc.
Ugh. I know there's like 100+ million PS4's out there and that is a huge market share but I really wish these games would go next gen only at some point. I know there's been a few recently, but it's clearly holding game back.
God of War Ragnarok comes immediately to mind. That shit is a PS4 game with slight PS5 improvements. If they did it for next gen only I wonder what we would have ended up with. Probably something closer to Last of Us Remake.
Yup same. Having it on old gen isn't just a graphical thing too. If they can design a game with the expectation that every system is using a SSD it allows so much better design on gameplay. Every time I see "Also on ps4" I cry a little inside.
given how murderously difficult it was to get a PS5 for the first year and a half of its existence it would have been deeply anti-consumer to only develop a lot of this stuff for only PS5. you'd be telling a huge segment of your customer base, especially the poorer and less terminally online, to go fuck themselves through no fault of their own.
that said with supply woes eased and now multiple years in it'll be nice to see PS5 potential unleashed for the second half of its life cycle
What exactly would an SSD offer for their REmake gameplay design that a 5400rpm drive with proper asset streaming couldn't? They're not going to suddenly throw 50 unique enemy models at you at once or quit with having the quieter sections of an area that act as a breather/loading buffer between larger sections of a map if it's seamless. Capcom doesn't have time to be fancy with how quick they've been pumping out Resident Evil games the past few years.
I have to admit, I am rather pleased with the lifespan of my PS4 Pro. I have a huge backlog and technically games still look quite fine to me. PS4 > PS5 transition had been hampered by supply chain issues so I can understand developers looking to get more juice out of 4 pro.
Also Ps4 is about to get 10 years old this year, I'd say it aged rather well, holds up stronger than Ps3 and Ps2 did at the same age.
It appears that XVI will be the game that showcases the true capabilities of PS5.
Well, bad news if you pre-ordered the CE in store at Gamestop. They are not fulfilling any of those orders.
