It wouldnt be that bad though. Keith's cap recapture would be 5.5m this year and 2m in 2024. With DeBrincat on the books for this year, they'd have ~20 mil in cap space with 11F 4D 0G on the roster, per capfriendly. No need to give away DeBrincat like that.

This is the only thing that makes sense to me. DeBrincat having some sort of major allegation coming his way or like, Chicago hiding that he has a terminal illness or something

I misread the room lol, I thought it was a cap situation looming. DeBrincat plays for Team USA though, he wasnt part of the Hockey Canada scandal.
