I don't know much about this Jakk fellow, but odds are - as Laurel's partner - he'll be in the game for a while. He's also single and potentially ready to mingle.

Also, WTF MARINERS. Why do you put in a struggling starting pitcher who has particularly struggled against the Astros to try and get his first career save but ends up throwing two fastballs right down the middle to Yordan Fucking Alvarez? I was having such a pleasant work day up until that point.

Unless this series has randomly been a hit in Germany over some of the recent seasons, I have no idea why Nam's brought back. Pity? There's plenty of people in this same time period who did more in less time but don't get these chances. Dude seems nice enough and all, but that's it. Sam is someone I would have considered last time, but then I remembered Byrd deciding a few seasons back to not give PDA points so easily to incoming established couples.

Anyway, I'm going with Kim. I don't know how athletic he may be, but he's fit and he's tall, the latter which could be helpful in some of these stupid games. He will be the one to drive those German ratings, not Nam!

I'll take a page from the throwback machine and take Veronica. I figure with Darrell as a partner she's likely to stick around a while, maybe win some puzzle or other mental challenges. Or maybe she'll hook up with Aneesa again. Plus, you know - the NSFW reasons.

I started counting all the potential points when they showed an out of focus shot of Fessy in the hot tub with a blonde until I realized that it wasn't Olivia. Dude, I had no idea at that point that Olivia wasn't even in the damn game. What kind of janky season is this where they're bringing in FIVE teams after the start?

Kind of surprised that they didn't try to work around and pretend that Kaycee and her brother weren't even there. I was kind of counting on her being a bit of a "peacemaker" for Fessy here. The "can you bring my girlfriend" bit is so fake. If they weren't straight up quarantining with the big group before the start anyway, 100% she knew that they were coming.

So-so opening challenge. It at least didn't have heats and take like half the show, so there's that. Just not a very interesting thing since it's basically nothing important til the last 30 seconds of it. Elimination was pretty good combination of things and requiring both people to put in the work.

Maybe it's the stink of the way that the CBS show went down that is lingering, but I'm finding the "typical Challenge stuff" here kind of irritating. The whole concept of not explaining any of the format just for reactions to further revealing twists doesn't do much for me when it's part of the base format.

Turbo sucks.

I don't know how I feel about this Coleen/Jack situation. It wasn't a very good lie, but I also get why she'd want to hide where she was from. Him being so eager to out that right away, idk. At the end of the day, I feel like it's something that shouldn't have been able to happen, so issue is with this horrible production. /shrug

On the flip side, fair game to Nurys playing the game that way. We'll see how the fallout from this episode goes, but Johnny M having ties to two teams with vet(s) and getting a daily win is an interesting start. I'll give these guys (and some of the less seasoned vets) some credit for at least seeming to have a plan for now.

Of course, with Banany in the house now, I wouldn't be shocked if things are just "business as usual" with excuses made to pick off the outsider teams until "oops, vets have the upper hand!"
