There was a pretty good podcast with Allan Walsh and Adam Wylde where they talked about salary differences between markets. What I took away from it was that it doesn't actually end up mattering much, a good accountant is going to get you pretty much the same value regardless of where you're playing. It's mostly the climate/environment/other external factors that persuade guys to take haircuts to stay in/go to the markets they're in.
