Problem with the "Dame will get yeeted" take is that he still has good basketball ahead of him, he's been insane to start this season.

Cousy sure, Glove, outrageous. prime GP gave you 22 and 8 a game on 47% in one of the lowest-paced eras in league history which is way better than Lillard's 25-7 on 44% in an era of inflated scoring. add on Payton being the last guard to win defensive player of the year (Lillard defensive liability), the man who gave Jordan by far his worst ever Finals performance (imagine Dame on Jordan), and a dude that led his team to a Finals (DAME COULD NEVA)
come on
cooommmeeeeee onnnnnn
Smart is really a 6'3" power forward
That explains his inability to dribble
prime GP gave you 47% but he also shot like 28% from 3 on like 5-6 attempts per game, which is laughable even by 90's standards. dude was a beast on the perimeter sure, but he was doing it in a league that was still dominated by bigs. who'd he have to lock up besides MJ? Joe Dumars? John Starks? Mitch Ritchmond? I'm shaking in my boots
I like GP a lot but I think Dame's offensive output gets way overlooked simply because Curry exists
Pulling up 3 point percentage is silly, it just wasn't a big part of the game back then.
It's only been the last decade-ish that it really became a major focus point of NBA offenses due to the rise of Steph and Morey-ball
no one has made as many long range 3's as Dame has. they call him LOGO LILLARD for a reason, and he certainly helped revolutionize the game. y'all really need to stop with this revisionist history bs
edit - and here are receipts to help you fools put things into perspective
There was a study done by the eagle-eyed users of NBA Reddit not too long ago on Aug. 14 of last year. They used NBA.com's shooting splits data to try and find which player has the deepest range (and is the most accurate) in the league by combining regular-season and playoff shots from 30 feet or more; ranking by their best individual seasons from that distance, the highest percentage belonged to 2019-20 Lillard (42%), followed by 2015-16 Curry (38%) and 2019-20 Trae Young (36%).
Lillard: 152/451 (33.7%)
Curry: 130/450 (28.9%)
Young: 92/255 (36.1%)
What Lillard and Curry -- and seemingly Trae Young -- are doing is unteachable and abnormal. They are the outliers to the regular.
No one else was talking about how far Lillard shoots his 3s from but go off I guess
dame helped change people's perspective of the 3-ball as much as anyone, including curry. luka isn't pulling from the logo if dudes like dame didn't do it firstit really became a major focus point of NBA offenses due to the rise of Steph and Morey-ball
AG: Dame is a fringe 75 guy
Me: No he's not, y'all just overlook him because curry is lightskin
Kran: curry is pretty tho, he literally changed the game uwu
Me: angryemoji
What is yalls prerequisites for top 75? Skilled scorer with handles, revolutionized the game, multiple NBA champion, gold medal winner and 6th man of the year?
Cause yall described Manu.
i'm sorry my brain locked up when you said yes but besides Michael Jordan who did GP ever lock up
this guy really went and sextuple downed on this take
well his third best player was Meyers Leonard that series, I'd say he carried that team pretty damn hard
curry career stats over 819 GP: 24.3(47%) / 6.5 AST / 4.5 REB
dame career stats over 715 GP: 24.7(43.8) / 6.6 AST / 4.2 REB
THEY'RE THE SAME PICTURE
one guy played with 3 hall of famers and the other didn't. thats literally the only difference
McCollum was about as good as Dame those playoffs not much of a carry job
