I tried to include the major GOTY contenders from around the interwebs along with a few surprises!

Myself, I had to go with Xenoblade 3! It was everything I wished Xenoblade 2 had been.

I haven’t tried Elden Ring yet (I will! I have it! Just gotta find the time.)

God of War and Horizon Forbidden West are the only titles on the list I played this year and Horizon is definitely good but GoW is leagues and leagues above it in pretty much every category.

I might wanna try Diofield Chronicles or Harvestella one day when they are cheaper.

Oh for sure, I totally get it. It's probably a top 4, top 5 game for me this year. Not sure how many (if any) people here would have it crack their top 3 even. It's an excellent game which managed to do casual + speedrunning well but kind of lost in the crowd this year.

I picked GoW, but it was close between that and Horizon. If you ask me tomorrow, I wouldn't be shocked if I even went with that. Both were neck and neck.

ragnarok was very fun. enjoyed it from start to finish, liked the new stuff, optional endgame fights were cool

that being said i have played elden ring like 6 times from start to finish on differing builds and just finished my first mage run a couple weeks ago, and im thinking about trying a level 1 run over winter break. the game absolutely rules, goty (its also the first souls game i ever played and got me to go back and play bloodborne, ill look at the others eventually too)

(note: i also have like 110 hours into vampire survivors because i am a loser)

I haven't finished Ragnarok so I voted Horizon. My actual game of the year isn't on this list which would be tactics ogre reborn. I get why people vote Elden Ring but at the same time I feel like while the actual open world was great most of the bosses past the early portions of the game were straight up kinda shit and the copy and paste dungeons were super tedious. Would probably rank at as like the 4th best soulslike game Sekiro is still the goat.

If I had to choose a game off the list, Bayo 3 even though I couldn't stand Viola and hated the ending.

But if I had to choose any game I played that came out this year it would be TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. Great pixel art, great soundtrack, lot of references from the 80s cartoon and they even got the OG Turtles to voice. It was a love letter to Turtles fans.
