they're saying a 6 month recovery, which is september, and that's just the recovery. that doesn't allow for any practice in that time span so the 7th round dude would be going into the season with zero prep
lance will be the starter for the season

So further reading, that doctor hasn't even looked at him, just giving an opinion on how he thinks it's going to turn out.
purdy hasn't even confirmed he's having the surgery, so there's that too
chances are he isn't playing till like nov earliest tho regardless of how he goes about this thing
There were a few articles earlier in the season regarding Allen’s UCL injury and how the timetable is nowhere near the amount it is for pitchers when they have TJS.
I’m guessing whoever this doctor is, he’s basing it off of the rehab time in baseball and equating that to QBs.
Yeah, pitchers are guaranteed they have to do the full replacement (Tommy John) based on the throwing motion. NFL QB's, unless it's completely torn, can actually safely rehab it. That's why it swings so much in the spectrum. Until he gets a full slate of opinions and makes a decision, it's still going to be speculation that he can return between July and next season.
big ben had, i think, the same elbow injury brock has and he was out of commission for 6 months and also never returned to being any fucking good again
big ben was also older, so there's that, but elbow stuff ain't great for pitchers or quarterbacks
Plenty of pitchers come back from Tommy John and sometimes can throw even harder.
