Buddy and I have been discussing spinning up a true-to-retail experience complete with wild west mentality. Takes a lot of money on the gamble there will be enough people willing to play retail like that.

That post by me is old as hell now, it's the wild west on Eden and no one really shares anything (and they haven't since 2020 when a bunch more people started playing during covid and upset the HNM scene). If you wanna camp kings the way Tanaka intended, it's still your best bet. The server I help run has made some QOL adjustments to kings so it's not the true era experience.

Felt DRG was the thing keeping BST from taming or having Dragon jugs, since Beastmen BST have Wyvern pets, and BST can charm Puks. DRG's pet -esque hybrid DD designed removed any possibility of BST taming Dragons because they are "Dragon Killers." Even though, BST could tame, capture dragons in past games.

Always had a Vegito smirk on my face when Dragoons are mentioned as a career BST lol.

It was somewhere in the We are Vanadiel website, but I can't find where. Basically, the guiding design principle for both NMs was something that could be defeated, but only theoretically because fuck you I guess.

Well it happened, Kegfreak is Banned.

I took a break from the game for a week to attend to some other priorities. However, when I tried to log in for Dynamis-D, I received a notice stating that my account was suspended with an obligation to terminate it. Surprisingly, the email associated with the account mentioned a violation of Rule 3.3, specifically the Profanity and Obscene Language Rule. This seemed odd to me as I usually engage in such behavior on my alternate account. I reached out to SE via email, and their response confirmed that my account "Kegfreak" was in violation, but they couldn't disclose the details.

In my follow-up email, I questioned how I could defend myself if I didn't even know the nature of the alleged offense. I expressed a desire to appeal the decision, suggesting that if SE couldn't share the details and still insisted on punishment, they should at least remove the strike from my account. However, SE remained firm, doubling down on their decision to terminate the account. They explicitly warned that creating or logging into another account on my IP would also result in termination.

I don't understand whose feelings I may have hurt, but I find SE's actions to be quite extreme. Additionally, I want to emphasize that any comments made were not directed personally at the individual affected. While there's a fair amount of trolling in the game, it's part of the gaming culture, and many players switch between playful banter and genuine help within a short span. It's disappointing to part ways under these circumstances. If you find yourself on FFXIV, perhaps we'll cross paths again.

We're nearing 15 years anniversary for the Salvage bans too I think. I don't recall but I think it was during/after that time when the airplane landed on the hudson river in New York? Need to go look it up

No it was duping equipment pieces like the 35s.

It was the prime example of the fact that people weren't just complaining about Kings because that they wanted a "fair shot" at gear, they just wanted free shit without having to earn it. They all cheated to get their Salvage equipment as much as the people who botted.
