why does monk look better than OG ffxiv monk?
why does monk look better than OG ffxiv monk?
Tencent and SE are trying to sell this hard in China.
Came out with another trailer. This one shows some gameplay.
So does this look good for mobile or does this just make ffxi on pc look like it's super dated?
Both can be correct.
Glamor plates. Lol.
Lmao, even.
micro transaction glamour plates are gonna print sooooooo much money
Watched the video of Arthars doing Ifrit normal mode and honestly surprised how good it looks, but he was also playing on PC so I’m still dubious on how it’s gonna work on mobile.
CB started today in China.
Arthars was streaming all day, if you want to check it out.
I'ma be real: this game isn't nearly as slutty as other free to play games in that region. We'll see how it goes, but I'm surprised they haven't lewded shit up to try to grab some of that Hoyo money.
Going lewd only works if your game has character/costume gacha, with their model it would only dilute the brand without significant gains.
Fair. We'll have to see what gains there are in general, but time will tell.
It's not like there haven't been other fan service MMOs before, so it wouldn't be without precedent. That said, while YoshiP wasn't shy about taking FF in a more mature direction with XVI, I don't think changing course with XIV is an option at this point since you'd just open up a rift between versions that is just further exacerbated by wanted QOL/spaghetti code issues. I wouldn't rule out some mobile-exclusive glams, but it'll probably be lacking the mod scene that compensates for PC's lacking character creation options.
Arguably, the thirst in games like Genshin, HSR, and the other few big names is more a player thing than developer. Sure, they may lean in a little from time to time, but if you've played other mobile games that don't pretend women over C-cups don't exist or verbally fellate the player as the most awesomest person to ever awesome the moment they create their account, it's not hard to make the distinctions between a church and a brothel. Those games just never make it mainstream big between ratings restrictions and your expected conservative social stigmas. The incel gamer community insisting Stellar Blade is more popular than we think reflects that reality since even if you get past the superficiality of Eve, the best synopsis of play you'll probably get is it's a bargain bin Nier clone. Much as I feel mobile games aren't worth the money they print with their manipulative tactics and forever incomplete implementation, it's not like standalone games don't escape the requirements of actually being good games, either.
Anyway, part of me is just kinda viewing this as a beta for overhauling the PC client. 8.0 in a couple years will tell us a lot on that front, and it's not like job design hasn't needed major work, either. This gives them a bit of freedom to fuck around, though I could only imagine the pain of level 100 ability bloat on the mobile control scheme. Personally, I'd always be fine with fewer abilities if gear and materia let us change them around based on a desired build without 2 minute meta BS. But this isn't an opinion new to XIV, either.
Just an update.
This is in Chinese, but it explains the new Glamour, Wardrobe, and Dye system in the mobile version. You get these from the cash shop.
Tencent is streaming their launch event on Apr.22. 20:00 Chinese time.
It's already been posted, but the game launches in China on Aug. 29th, 2025.
