    I know everyone says this, so with that in mind, I mean this despite that. DEP are actually friends of ours, and live in the ajoining town in Jersey. Their live schedule lately is insane, I'll give you that. Try to make it to one of their next shows, they've been unveiling some new material due out on a ...oh fuck, that's a secret ^^. I know Amarok is in to a heavier sound, more black metal, but I don't know if you'd consider Dillinger "Nu-Metal" or not. Personally, I don't. He might just like 'em if he hasn't yet heard them. DEP are gods, ...just don't call it math metal, or god will kill another art major named Saasha or "Moon baby".

    DEP are considered metalcore by most people. In my opinion I think they have some decent songs (43% Burnt, Calculating Infinity) but I don't listen to them often. I don't know if you've heard Meshuggah, but most people I know who love DEP also love them.

    I am more into Black metal and Doom metal such as My Dying Bride, Esoteric, Xasthur, Nargaroth, Ohtar, Helgadom, Skepticism. I also like a bit of death metal, but I can't stand bland generic death metal that is just constant blast beats over boring monotonous riffing that doesn't have any direction. Some good death metal bands are Impaled, Ghoul, Vital Remains, Myrkskog, Behemoth(new stuff is death metal, old is black metal).

    I have also recently gotten into Progressive Metal with the band Ayreon.

    A pretty good site for discovering new bands is http://www.metal-archives.com.

    Most people just think of metal as "omfg screaming thats not msuci roflcopter111!12134124", But they're just plain stupid.

    Well, thats not what I thought....I just thought there weren't as many genres or w/e you'd call it of that kind of metal.

    There is an endless amount of genres and sub-genres for music. It's just that unless you explore and work to find the gems beneath the rocks, you will always be stuck with the same limited musical choices.

    Amarok grows scarier by the day. O_o;

    Was it? Meh.

    In anycase, anything (apart from country) has to be better then Garage, I swear that's the shittiest genre in music (bar country). I've been known to listen to some rock now and again, although the catagories never meant much, If i like it i'll listen to it.

    People have their perceptions of genres wrong. You'll hear people say, "If I like it, I'll listen to it. I don't need genres". That all well and fine, now say you want to find something similar to that particular band. Genres are just a way to classify music in order to make it easier to find stuff that you like.

    Now that is sweet, I actually like hardcore but happy hardcore sucks my .... I have seen Saasha and Digweed live and it was probably the best Trance show I have ever seen. Rabbit in the moon is another older DJ that still has kick ass parties
