You said it yourself, why would you ever use anything but AF1 body for enfeebling? If thats the case, I fail to see any use coming from Crimson Body that you couldn't get out of Errant. The HP and MP aren't worth anything if you're going to be switching out armor, and the DEF is NOT a reason to get a piece of armor for a mage.

Well, technically, there is a point in time where stacking on +magic skill becomes useless and the corresponding stat is better. If I were trying to enfeeble an Easy Prey mob, chances are I do not need my Tabbord because my enfeebles will most likely not be resisted. This is the point where stacking on +stat is better because that causes the effect of the enfeeble to last longer, and for it to activate more in cases like paralyze. For an XP party or HNM/gods +skill is king, but in most solo/farming situations, you can optimize your enfeeble effects with more MND or INT. Now, if I am getting hit by a mob, do I want -7 VIT/AGI so I dodge less and take more damage? (Not to mention -7STR/DEX so I hit less often and for less damage.) Obviously yes, because I am a weak little mage who should never leave the confines of a city without a tank to escort me. (But then again, let's compare defense without buffs when I log on Mr. DRK.)

Let me reiterate: my life is not centered around XP parties, gods, and HNM. I have goals that go beyond your concept that because Red Mage has "mage" in the name that I should never take a hit. I tank avatars, I tank in skill up parties, I tank in coffer key parties, and you know what? I do a damn good job of it. Just because you think Crimson Scale is worthless for XP/gods/HNM, it does not mean that that it worthless in other situations.

Sounds like Amarok is an RDM hater. Only reason I could think that would cause him so much hate towards RDMs is the lack of Refresh he got while leveling his DRK to use his Stone/Fire/Blizzard/Water spells.

I have an idea, lets take cheap shots at a DRKs DEF because that has something to do with what we're discussing! If it were my job to get DEF armor I would destroy you in defense/VIT stats, seeing as how I can wear almost anything a PLD can.

So you tank in skill up parties, avatars and coffer key parties. Something you do everyday making the armor very valuable! Eight DEF is not going to help you if you want to "tank", and if you actually tanked in your Errant Gear as opposed to your AF1 or Narashima's Vest(Which has SIX less DEF than Crimson Body) you would be a moron. Like you said, RDMs often use /equip macros, so you could /equip your Errant Gear for a spell you needed to cast.

I'm not saying Crimson is terrible armor, but it's not nearly as good/useful as you make it out to be.

My point is not that DRK have shitty defense (since many have -def + att items), but that RDM actually have a fairly decent defense.

If 8 DEF is not all that important, then what do so many +1 items sell for 3, 4, 5, sometimes 10 times more than the NQ items when their only difference is just one defense? (Not counting items with extra stats or skills.) And yes, I do solo a lot. I soloed most of my Sapara of Trials, and I got my dagger skill from 26 to 220 completely solo. (And most of my dagger skill up sessions since 220 are still solo.)

When you are enfeebling a mob, you cannot politely ask it to stop attacking while you switch to Errant to cast paralyze again. You have to cast while it is hitting you, and that is when the -stats on Errant are intolerable. (Stoneskin breaks sooner, so that is more MP and time spent recasting it.)

Personally, I do not give a shit if other people think crimson scale is worthless or not. It is worthwhile to me, and that is the only measure that matters. I will get it eventually, whether it is from BG or not.
