We got this and a satin thingy from ENM today. Kittyzilla thinks its for trading in to get an earring, but none of us know and on ffxi.somepage.com it's listed but not listed as being used for any quest

I'm getting the theories from the JP boards I frequent often. According to one of the posters, after having completed the Shattering Stars quest with three of his lv70+ jobs, Maat gave the offer for this quest.

Translation:

Got the cap quest.
I have lv75 WAR and DRK, and lv74 RDM.
Although I'm not sure what exactly triggered it, I got the testemonies for WAR DRK RDM and went through the BCs and changed my Title to Maat Masher.

Now, as for the Maat's quest itself he asks me to bring items.
The three items are: Opal Silk, Saber Shoot, and Cloud Evoker.
I wonder where you get them... orz


Just for the heck of it, here are the item descriptions:

Opal Silk (Rare/Ex) - The color of this strange thread changes depending on the angle from which one views it.
Saber Shoot (Rare/Ex) - This sturdy yet supple branch gets its name from its sharp tip. The slight scent of blood can also be detected on it...
Cloud Evoker (Rare/Ex) - A stone once used in Far Eastern rainbringing rituals

This actually does make sense. Now, only need to get 2 more jobs to 70+ and get 2 more very rare items, which are 100x harder to get to (bearclaw pinnacle enm involves running past exp mobs which are true sight/aggro magic+sight+sound, then jumping off a cliff and landing on a very small ledge, mineshaft enm you have to farm items, 1 per person...).

Let me rephrase.

That is fake.

The Opal Silk and Sable Shoot are used for the Ebisu Rod quest (and therefor arnt used for Maat).

Kuno, just cause they are used to get the ebisu rod doesn't mean they can't have a second purpose as well.

Ok so everyone that wants a maap hat needs 80+ fishing, mooching (fishing GP item) and a fuckton of hard to get EX bait to get it with then yeah it makes sense.

Would that quest be any more ridiculous than needing hundreds of thousands of Dynamis currencies to upgrade relic weapons? (Sadly, no.)

Well... sorta. You need to do lushang quest to get lushang and have 88+ fishing.. Getting both of those is slower then getting 1 relic, never mind finishing the quest.

I got this thing from boneyard gully "A sheep in antlions clothing" or something.

I have tryed trading this to every ENM related NPC. And if those other items are used for a fishing rod, I would assume that they aren't also used for Maat cap.
