    Any way to disable <calls>?

I turn my in-game sound all the way off, start up my harry potter audio book playlist with my headphones on, and then the PT does a skillchain and the <calls> FUCKING destroy my eardrums.

i've been forced to blist half of my xp pt's every time I go pting, is there any other way to mute calls?

calls are based off PC sound, instead of in-game sound, which is retarded. i suppose you could find the call.wav's and delete them.

I had the same problem Joft. I could never get the <call> to stop, so I had to turn it off within the config file. I really miss the sounds some zones have, but its rather that or hearing <call2> blasting all night.

You could always ask them to remove the call's from their macros?

That's feasible, but an inconvinience for others. Most of the time people do remove their calls, but sometimes you get these real assnuggets that will add calls into every macro they have, just to spite you.

That's when you D2 your whm mid battle, then warp yourself. Or just a good ole fashion MPK

Go into the Playonline folder in the Start Menu and choose Final Fantasy XI Config. Go to Audio and uncheck the box next to Enable Sound. You will have no sound what so ever afterwards.

Back in Onzozo, people used to drag me to EXP RDM at 1-2am my time, so they put <call> in every single one of their macros, and someone made a special "(Sleep): X <call1>" macro, god I hate RDM.

Folder \SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\sound\win\se\se000 contains the call files. Calls start from se000017.spw, which is the <call>, se000018.spw is <call1> etc. Last call file is se000038.spw, <call21>.

First move the files of the annoying calls you are going to replace to some backup folder. This way you have the old calls safe in case something goes wrong or you want them back for some reason. Personally I couldn't stand those calls 0-5, so that would be files se000017-22.spw. Call21 is more pleasing to the ear, so take as many copies of file se000038.spw as you needed to replace. Then just rename the copies to match the ones you moved away.
Test calls in game and you should be able to keep your speakers on in <call> happy parties from now on.
binked this from allakaz, use it for a few of my members who have small tarus in the house
