    I'm still kind of worried. Leveling nin to 75 for a reason, and then that reason to be diminished just kind of sucks. But I understand why a little, because ninja is very, very powerful and a lot of the reason I leveled ninja is because it owns and probably will still own pld in every way.

    *Changes to the ninjutsu "Utsusemi"
    In the next update, the player's enmity will decrease when a shadow image created by Utsusemi is absorbed by an attack.
    I don't see how this is a problem? Al the jobs that rely on Utsu to save their asses now get the enmity cut they were looking for, specifically Rangers. Ninja's weren't meant to be tanks in the first place. SE will always make changes according to how /they/ designed the game and not how players play it.

    Soon, the distance of the monster from the player will determine the damage and accuracy of ranged attacks.
    Sounds to me like they are making Rangere more realistic imo. After all in real the dmg a bullet does depends on distance it traveled as much as the accuracy of the shot.

    This determination will vary from weapon to weapon, as will the ideal distance for maximum damage.
    Guess people will have to figure out the optimum distance for dmg, same way as they had to figure out the delay on WS for closing SC affects the dmg of WS.

    In addition, the higher the monster's level is with regard to the player, the less damage will be dealt with a ranged attack. This system is similar to that of melee attacks, but the difference in damage will not be as great.
    Honestly I don't see how this is a nerf if anything it's an attempt to bring balance to all the jobs. Imo SE is simply trying to change the fact that people who level jobs to 75 and than realize they have to conform to HNM LS /usefullness/ of being a RNG or BLM instead of DRK or /gasp DRG. Also it looks like they are trying to level the playing field in places where some HNMs are just a joke now and trying to bring back the difficulty of /some/ HNMs. Ever heard of the phrase: Kids grow up too fast these days?

    a nerf is anything that diminishes.

    RNGs are definitely diminished by

    the higher the monster's level is with regard to the player, the less damage will be dealt with a ranged attack.
    whether it's a fair nerf or not depends on the person, this has affected all other melee jobs before so imo it is "fair". but regardless of whether or not it's fair, it's still a nerf.

    Maybe all hope isn't lost. I mean, losing a little hate from a shadow absorbing damage isn't more hate loss than getting hit directly, like PLD does.

    am just gonna use iron arrows(700g from npc in port jeuno!) from now on, not gonna pay 20k a stack for arrows to do less damage lol

    Don't be so hasty. Remember how they "nerfed" the spell casting distance for BLMs? Doesn't mean you have to be up close and personal with the mob to put a bullet in it and in terms of dmg reduction, they mentioned it will be affected by the weapons. As for HNMs? Meh, who knows which HNMs and how much they will increase resistance.

    But yeah, maxing Marksmanship was a mistake. Elvaan Bow RNG ftw!
