    Growing Delusions?

After reading Allakazham threads, I've been questioning whether or not I have been rude to low level characters when I have been leveling. Right now I'm leveling Blm, 61 now, and have experienced a lot of horrible party set ups as well as some great ones.
In parties, I sometimes like to give advice when needed like if an rdm is having trouble when to Dispel a crab or a whm is acting kinda slow with -na spells. Is that being rude or arrogant?

Another example, I had my first blm party with some very known characters and it was fun. However soon, we had a replacement blm arrive (this was in onzonzo) and the first thing he asks was an escort because he needed sneak+invis. This was when we realized the blm was subbing smn. Is it wrong, rude, and cocky to advise that blm on his choice in subjobs?

I would think that advising others so that they may improve their skill and in turn help the parties they attend would be a good thing. And I do try my best to be polite, however responses like "You'er not a f***** RDM, don't tell me how to do my job, You don't know shit about it," is rather offensive. But I guess as someone put it, maybe I'm just one of those rude, arrogant, cocky high level asshats.

Persons choice for jobs it may suck but at the same time it may work out. rude maybee a bit. but at the same time a bit needed in some cases. As for that blm if hes gonna make that choice in sub job he needs to buy oils and powders.

Hard to give advice to someone who doesent want it right? Plus the other guy thinks he is perfect so I usualy don't waste my time.

it really all comes down to how you do it. if you act arrogant and cocky then yeah it's wrong but if you just give them some kind constructive critism no it's cool. we need more ppl willing to help ppl like that but most likely the ones who snap at you had ppl tell them before you in a not so nice form. i go out of my way to help low lvl's sometimes even buying them gear if i have the extra gil laying around. point in case i saw a lvl 17 rdm wearing opal earrings instead of onyx which is what you would expect. i had just snagged energy's off a leaving person for a gil a pop and gave him an onyx and sugest he wear atleast one. then took him to gusgen and got him his skull. most ppl will take kind advice well. but here is my personal attitude. if you see a person past 50 with a setup you don't think is right chances are they've been told from 10+ it wasn't right but they like it. we all pay good cash to play so let them be cause they'll possibly snap at you cause they're tired of hearing about it even if you mean well. don't think it'll work in your pty don't invite. i had a pld/nin tank once one of the best tanks i ever had. shield bash first mob and dual wield and kept using all the lovely tricks to keep hate second mob up he would WS to get it off puller. so that's my 2 cents

They don't care. The first response you'll get from one of these people is this: 'it's just a game, I play how I want to play.' That in turns shows their selfish nature, and that they don't give a shit about anyone but themselves. (I get this response from 9/10 meleeing RDMs) They don't care how much XP they get, how well they perform, the experience in their skills and knowledge of their job they gain. They just don't care at all, and unfortunately some of those idiots have made their way into the 70+ range now.

I've tried to teach BLMs about elements and resists, but half of them don't want to listen at all. There's so many idiot RNG/WARs on Remora that I want to kill myself, but only over the ones that decide to Sharpshot+Barrage+Berserk right at the beginning of a fight with a NIN tank. I've tried to teach RDMs that their jobs are in the back supporting a PT with Enfeebles, Refresh, and a few Cures with a random MB, but so many insist that "OMG LIEK i caN StilL do myh job and FIHGT SAEM TEIM!!!" that I was to kill myself. White Mages that don't Haste their tanks. Summoners that don't buff at all. Bards that forget they have Elegy.

People who don't listen to suggestions and advice don't give a shit about anyone but themselves. Let them play how they want to play, let them whine about it, and let them suffer--just make sure you type /pcmd leave.

I'm of the opinion that it isn't even worth the time or energy to give people advice. There are a ton of FFXI websites with forums where you can get advice to be a better player- people who do not avail themselves of them just don't want to learn.

I didn't read anything of the thread. Advice only helps. That's why coaches advice their athletes, teachers advice their students, counselurs (i know missplled) advices couples and so on.

I was in that BLM party and personally I do not think you were rude, because I think we were all kind of confused. With my ninja and blm I always tend to critique other RDM, I guess due to instinct or something but it seems 90% of the NA RDM level 65 and down, do not perform their job properly.

That guys is a nice person but he shouldn't be gimping his party with a SMN sub, plus he already has a WHM sub . Onzozo, of all places is definatly the place to sub WHM.

You have no idea how many noob RDM i accidently make warp in parties for asking them to do something or questioning them

Lets not turn this into a RDM melee thread btw, because its a dead horse. Just dont do it.

LOL, what are you? Lvl 32?

If you'd have said that almost 2 years ago I would've Agreed, but then again, we didn't know any better back then. But you know that RDM melee is pathetic, so why do it now when almost everyone knows it shouldn't be done (yet they still do it).

If you're worrying of people considering you elitest Blazer, just try your best not to give people a reason to think that. Nothing else you can really do.
