Thread: Ranger...     submit to reddit submit to twitter

OK folks, the issue here is not how you perform in an xp party. We all know why people xp in the first place, because they want to get to high level and take out NMs and gods.

Let me put it this way: Last night my LS took Amikiri. One of the RNG that was with us has arguably the leetest RNG gear on the entire server and an almost fully upgraded relic gun. Using E Bow and Demon Arrows he was doing DOUBLE DIGIT BARRAGES. Nothing else needs to be said about this because it speaks for itself. Furthermore, he was eating sushi and still missing tons of shots. Shortly after that another RNG in my party MISSED EAGLE EYE SHOT. Yea I know it happens from time to time, but how often? 1/1000? Somehow I get the feeling this wasn't one of those freak accidents.

We did Ungur right before this and damage had been ok. What was the difference? I guess the fact that Amikiri is kited while Ungur is straight tanked. This nerf absolutely crushes RNG's potential against kited mobs. C-R-U-S-H-E-S.

Imagine, a party of 9 people, with 3 fully decked out rangers almost wiping to Amikiri because they couldn't do any damage to it.

    Want more?

The days of THF and RNG in the same party doing crazy skillchains are over. If RNG is standing at optimal distance and turns the mob so THF can SATA, say goodbye to your THF's TP since the mob will run off.

Soloing was hard before as RNG? It just got worse.

Good luck beating Maat. Let me know how that goes when he comes up to melee you and your Sidewinder does like 100 damage.

I suggest everyone here and everyone reading this send complaints like they're going out of style.

People who get in my face have to deal w/ my ridill,

However, its really bad, thinking of selling all my rng gear to put into my other/new jobs, Square has crushed my spirit.

Is it bad in the sense that they leveled the damage output to be more a match to other melees? Or in the sense that it's far too complex to make it a worthwhile job to play? I can imagine players to be upset at both. People like doing more damage then the norm of other players, and people like the ease of the job. I'm just surprised people like Xavier would really give up the job because of this.

Then again, this new shift in ranger accuracy/attack does lead to a lot of problems when it comes to working with other players. If they made weapon skills in particular the way it always was, that would be acceptable. Wish they took the 'damage at point blank' concept into consideration. But I finished RNG at Lv40, and I've never shot anything as a PLD, so I'm just trying to understand the frustration people are feeling.

Because they dropped dmg BELOW what other normal melees are doing, at any range, AND they made the job more complicated to play to actually get any kind of respectable numbers out. Lost cause for me.

Yuck that sounds like a terrible nerf. The very fact that ranged attacks no longer deal comparable damage to other melee, even below!, and the difficulty to 'get it just right' for each monster of each difficulty type is cause enough for giving up on the job. It sounds bad.

The point of rangers is that they spend money to do more damage than other melees. If they suck now, there should be an NPC that sells arrows/bolts for 1gil lol.

  9. #29

Now square needs to make NPCs that will give out free bolts and arrows.

I helped a guy in our ls on Snoll BC.

Almost all the slugshots missed, and the ones that did hit did 400-500 damage. Our rangers did 800-2.1k (2.1k!) on the fight before patch.

Dude I swear they beefed up Jump. I was taking fucking 200+ from normal Jump in a 40cap Ballista, which, even playing as a mage job (SMN), that's just insane o.O
