Pentium 4 XE Series Vs Athlon 64 X2 Series

Please remember that the Athlon 64 X2's still use the old DDR 400 memory where as the new P4 XE (Dual Cores) use the new DDRII 667 memory...

If anyone has used either of these please write a small review.

Yes I know the new M2 chipset coming up "Should" support DDRII in the near future but it doesnt explain how the bottle neck on the old memory still rapes P4 on some benchmarks with DDRII 667.

Please give me your feed back

Im looking for users that have used either of these for High End gaming and number crunching work (rendering & encoding)

    Cheersola

I've got a duel P4 With 1 gig of DDR2 , along with my graphics card (6800 Geforce pci 16x blah blah blah 256 meg) I can run WoW and Doom 3 at the same time while atl tabbing between the 2, neither lags while the other is up just some load time between swapping, like 2-5 seconds. I have both wow and Doom3 on the highest settings possible.

So yeah, if you got the money p4 ftw, and as much DDR2 as you can afford (I've seen 8 gigs at most so far and a 1 TB Harddrive 0.0)

    I benched a 9783 on my Benchmark#3 from PoL.

lol chris your upgrade is almost the same as mine, except the graphic cards i got a x850 pci-e instead, but memory and everything else is the same. I love it, i got 6000 on that ffxi benchmark. you'll probably hit 7000 with 2 cards which is like the max.
