At the following time, we will be performing PlayOnline server maintenance. During this period, PlayOnline, Tetra Master and FINAL FANTASY XI will be unavailable.

The "Friend List Plus" feature, as well as the "Q&A" feature accessible from the official PlayOnline homepage (http://www.playonline.com/) will be unavailable as well.

You may also experience delays when sending mail through the "PlayOnline Mail" system.

Maybe the fact that they added one too many zeros to the end of their "super NM" code. It would be realistic to think the monkeys that work at SE would take a day and a half to fix that.

Probably the fuck up that is the latest patch. I think every maint. after patch is simply adjustments being made to Beta Patch initially released. They probably test and find all the bugs in any patch that comes out and fix accordingly.

PlayOnline Server-Wartung (8. Aug.)

Zum folgendem Zeitpunkt wird ein Update an dem PlayOnline Viewer als auch eine Wartung am normalen System durchgeführt. Während dieser Zeit wird der PlayOnline Viewer nicht zur Verfügung stehen. Unteranderem, wird PlayOnline, Tetra Master und FINAL FANTASY XI offline sein.

„Friend List Plus“ und "Q&A", die Sie auf PlayOnline.com
(http://www.playonline.com/) nutzen können, werden auch nicht verfügbar sein.

*Die Klient Software wird zu diesem Zeitpunkt auch ein Update bekommen. Nach Fertigstellung der Wartung wird die Klient Software automatisch starten, nachdem Sie sich mit PlayOnline verbunden haben. Bitte folgen Sie den Anweisungen auf Ihrem Bildschirm.

I hope that means better ping for US players, but probably not. In the very least, maybe no more DDoS attacks. That itself would be worth the downtime.
