    Just a photoshop question...

I'm sorry I keep asking questions here but I'm not only posting this here but I'm posting on other boards as well... Anyway how would I go about resizing a photo so it doesn't make it look al funky? Please awneser seriously! Thank you!

P.S. Yes I have looked at many guides and followed them but the picture kept turning out odd...

P.S.S. I'm trying to resize the picture to 480 x 272 if that makes a difference.

Again... Be serious please... Thank you!

There's a box or something, or even clicking the paperclip icon inbetween the measurements for H and W that locks the proportions.

Not opening P7 atm, give me a screenshot of the box for resizing and I can tell you exactly. Either way you need to lock it so the proportions are equal, that will prevent fuck ups.

    Click Constrain Proportions.

However, doing so, you might not get those exact dimensions you want, after you click it, type in 480 into the slot you want, you'll see how close you get.

If you want to resize an image keeping the same ratio of width and height you won't get the right size unless the ratio of the size you want and the size you have is the same...

    example:

    600 x 400 has the same ratio as 300 x 200

But if you start with 600 x 400 and you want 480 x 272, it's not the same ratio, so it will screw up the image proportions.

The solution? You have to crop some of the picture out, basically, resize it with contrain proportions on and set either the width or the height to the desired size, but not both of them, make sure when you set it, the other part has a value higher than what you want it at. So if you set the height to your size, make sure the width is higher than what you want or vice versa. After that, the image will keep its proportions, and then you can crop out the extra width or height.

In addition to what Almaa said (as I had forgot about Crop). Click on the crop tool, then at the top of the toolbar it'll let you set your Height and Width proportions. Set w/e to 480 x 272 and you'll have your cropping box.

As Almaa said, this is the only way to retain proportion to the image without fucking it up via resizing. However, you're going to lose some of the image because of the crop, so just hope it's nothing terrible

That just proves that you can use a clipper program. Where are the Photoshop skills?

I should find some of my old work I did in college with photoshop. Most of it was sheerly touching up images from the stuff I did (was in Photgraphy), however, you might be slightly impressed by some of it :D

Mneh, I'll have to throw in copyright's across it then, knowing some idiot would try and use it, and regardless of whether it's published or not, it's still automatically copyrighted.

Speaking of which, if anyone happens to have this issue, I have an image in Best of College Photography (2003-2004).

here's some of my photography/photoshop work

    [removed broken link]

all but the first two were used in the design of my site... which I took down due to lack of updating because of FFXI, and I decided not to put it back up until I redesigned it, and even though I haven't played FFXI for almost a year, I still haven't redesigned it so the only thing up now is this: http://silentecho.net

oh well, this is just some of my stuff if anyone cares

K, here ya go, they're very fucking small due to the fact I don't know exactly where my main CD(s) are that have the bigass images on it. So I used the ones I had designed for web-usage. Of course you'll have to understand my reasoning with the copyrights on it.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/marcatil/amy.jpg

Amy, classmate of mine, was taken outside of a courthouse in a town about 10 mins away from my own residence. COLDEST FUCKING DAY EVER >.>

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...atil/glass.jpg

The image from hell, this took me probably 3 hours to finally get it right, and went through about 8 sheets of 4x5 Chrome film to do it. Learned the basic trick from when I apprenticed for a day under a Photographer out in Boston, MA.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...il/heather.jpg

Stop fapping, she's not naked under the sheet. It's Heather, ironically lives about an hour or so away from my hometown (where I'm at now), kinda freaky meeting, much less going to college, with someone from the local area. This shot took awhile but was worth it at the time.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../glassware.jpg

This was an assignment (as well as the other glass shot above) for college. Nothing too spectacular, the simplicity is good though.

<3 <3 <3 Clementimes :D Except when you forget you have a whole box of them in your refridgerator and decide to go on vacation for a week back to hometown (8 hours away from apartment in MA...). Yeah, let's just say I had a LOT to throw out >.> This one was good though :D

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...atil/light.jpg

Weirdest shot ever, surprisingly I got it too, my camera lens (both that I had) were a bit pushing it in terms of length. Pretty pleased due to the total randomness of it all.

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...il/muffins.jpg

OMFG <3 Muffins. I bought these from a local grocery store near the college. Damn they were good afterwards too :D

Mneh >.> I have more, just can't find it <.<
