Because not everybody has a PC/laptop capable of running it in satisfactory frames per second.

I only played the beta for cs: source, but the models sucked and I had a horrible framerate. What made half-life and its mods so much fun for me was max fps, all the time, with no slowdown since current computers were like superpowered for it.

Getting like 10-40 fps in intense areas takes the fun out of things.

I still play original CS because i still have my original HL CD and shit and dont want to plop down 50bucks for the same game
