Subtitles I think.
matroska codec
Whats that and where can I get one? Still, I can't open any of these files with winamp or whatever so is it a special program?Originally Posted by Lasitha
.mkv is a video file.
.srt is subtitles

I'd be one of those! *shakes lil fist*
google up mplayer on google
download the windows port
extract it
drag your mastroska file onto the mplayer exe icon and enjoy
mplayer owns your face
matroska (*.mkv) is not a coded, but more of a file format thats suppose to be superior the *.avi that has almost the same features as the *.ogm format but allows smaller file sizes (i don't really see the diff).
You're able to view them in windows media player but it would be stupid because
1) It will be messy, you will have to download a few things to get it fully working on WMP
2) MPK is made to store soft titles and other audio files that allow you to switch off from 1 to another
I recommend you download VLC Media Player. It plays almost anything by simply click and drag to it.
Except Real Media files, but RM sucks anyway...
