BST in regular parties: Pretty damn good.

Before I say anything, I'll let it be known that my experiences with BST in regular party WILL differ from first job BST's or people who haven't merited it. I have level 6 axe upgrades and 3 crit, which does help a lot.

Ok, so ya... I just got out of a 6500 an hour party on my BST. Setup was WAR WAR NIN BST BRD RDM. Sadly, the reason the party wasn't doing like 9k an hour or so was the rdm and brd. BRD would wait until mobs were at 25% to hit us with spells, and RDM just plain sucked.

    Anyways, to dispel some rumors...

No, carrie does NOT die within minutes of calling him. We were exping in moon (71-73 pt) on both golems and weapons. Out of the 3 hour party my crab died ONCE. And this once was when our puller was jerkin off or something so I pulled the golem with my crab, then it spammed AoE's.

BST rampage really isn't THAT bad. On average I was doing 500-600, while the war's were doing well uh... 500-600. The highest war rampage was just over 1100 and only once, the other highest being just under 800. My highest rampage was 859 or so.

Carrie is a GOOD dd. As BST/NIN carrie swings twice for my two swings and is about as accurate as me. Basically what that means is I'm gauranteed to get 4 swings of damage off (only 2 of tp ; ; ) per round of axes because carrie was hitting between 50- 70. My axes were doing on average 70-90, but still. Close enough.

In conclusion... I will not deny the fact that WAR and MNK can and do rape BST in exp. However, when compared to the lesser dd's (thf, drg, drk) BST is on par, if not above them. Give BST an invite and try it yourself if you don't beleive me, they do very well.

Holy crap, I'm really going to have to try this out, thanks for the info Orfeo, is there anything special you did that maybe I could relay to any BSTs I party with, equipment changes or something of the like?

I'm sure the majority of BSTs haven't just up and quit the job and sold all their gear just because of the change, and are sitting on their bottoms crying. Alot of them are trying to find new ways to XP, new places, or getting SE's attention to get it changed. It's not like the RNG nerf where everyone just quit =p

square-enix takes away rdm refresh and downgrades your enfeebling magic skill.

what are you gonna do now? That's how a lot of us feel right now.

Taking away refresh would bring a huge sigh of relief from Ulmega, read his sig lol. And as for downgrading enfeebling magic skill....bards can land silence on kirin.

You mean, make RDM like what it was originally?

Bst didnt have leave, it was added later
Bst charm worked very different, they tweaked it later. (If a mob landed a critical hit, your pet would lose charm!)

so you mean, make bst like what it was originally? :X

Please make bard what it was originally. 2 mp per tick for Ballad 1 and 3 mp per tick for Ballad 2.

(but they could only cast 1 song in the very beginning lol)

  13. #13

In the very beginning Fast Cast wasn't 100%

If SE takes Refresh away from RDMs everyone gets screwed. Honestly, it's not like Refresh is breaking any boundaries.

Enfeebling magic is gimp to begin with, lower it and it's not exactly like you break the job.

Taking away Refresh breaks the whole game though =)

weapons are too weak to begin with, same with golems.
try ulu range or lufaise and you're gonna pull your hair out. BST dmg isnt too bad, about 400-600 lower Rampage's vs WAR, but pet has a hard time keeping up because of AOE galore in those 2 spots ;/
