Question about WS gorgets inside sea

Hello there
You can obtain 8 different gorgets that improve ws dmg+acc from the "In the Name of Science" quest. (http://ffxi.somepage.com/questdb/422) Every gorget corresponds with 1 element, so I was wondering if the skillchain is important in chosing one or the weaponskill. I know every weapon skill has an elementtype but I don't really find an accurate list, so if the ws is important, where can I find that kind of list? :3
Also are these gorgets worth it?
