Play FFXI from behind University / Work firewalls

Download the latest version of ProxyCaps first.

Now go to http://www.your-freedom.net and download their client.

Open Proxycap and select the following options:

Rule Type: Tunnel through proxy
Proxy: Default
Application: POL (Select the POL.exe file from your hard drive)
Destination IP Range: Not restricted
Destination Port Range: Not restricted

Now select the Proxy Server Properties tab
Use Socks v5
Use Proxy Address: 127.0.0.1 on port 1080
Deselect the "Request Authorization" box.
Select the Proxy UDP box!
Leave the "Tunnel DNS queries" box deselected.

Now start the "Your Freedom" client. Click on the "Ports" tab and select the box "SOCKS 4/5" and leave as port 1080.

Now connect to the "Your Freedom" servers and start up FFXI as normal

Try going through a CGI proxy , it works for me ^^

Umm, excuse me. If I understand this correctly it is using a central server to receive all the FFXI data, which it then passes along to you. So like, when I type in my password and shit, it goes to your server.

From what someone else was saying.. You direct connect to another location which tunnels your information from there and they forward it back. So yeah, you're both partly correct.

I know how it works, and how it works is that my information passes through a server owned by someone I don't trust. Not sure why I should {Leave.} simply because I don't trust private information with a random person.
