uhhhhh 10k/hr rampage or rng pt chaining Aerns. It's actually fun in there, and you can let the bard melee since there is no Whirl of Gayness. ALL BARDS WANT TO MELEE. RDM/WHM, WHM/anything BRD/whm, fill the rest of the slots with warriors or rangers or DD ninjers.

I only merit with LS WARs/MNKs/NINs, and only if I want to skill up something for a job I'm leveling (hence my GKT+16)

I hate xping in sky on brd because Whirl of gay pisses me off sooooo much I really can't even stand it anymore. KRT isn't too bad, I can pull chain 30-60 depending on the party and day. and there's always monk parties, which I have yet to do on brd.

Hmm... my trick was... I convinced my brother to play BRD to 75. I 2boxed my smn and his brd, and we took turns leveling it till we were 75. Once at 75, he got sucked into the KRT 11k exp/hr parties... and refused to exp anywhere else again. (He needs merits for his blm)

Now, whenever we see 3 mnks lfg, off we go exping! I'm 75 rdm and whm, so its really easy to find a third mage. Our problem is monks! All the good mnks are already maxed out in merits...

The trick to getting Bards to want to merit, is to get Bards who dont want to gimp. It costs atleast 30 merits to max mp (or less if you choose some hp too), it costs 18 merits minimum to max 2 magic skill catagories and up to 21 to max a single catagory.. you can spend 30 merits to cap 2 job catagories... and that is if bard is their only job.

Merits are the cheapest way to make your character stronger. The easiest way to get merits for ANY job, is to be available on bard, considering there is basically no merit party who doesnt have room for one.

And as for parties being boring, pulling in KRT or in sea is hardly boring compared to what some other jobs do, IMO.
